Back to School Tag

I love love love getting mail. This week I got an apron in the Snail Mail from Apron Frenzy. I won it BlogherAtHome Weekend. I love it, it's very cute!

On Tuesday I got an email from Amy over at Keeping up with the Schultz Family. She's got an adorable Daughter Alyce and sometimes? Alyce is the poster. It keeps me and my girly Dreams going back for more. So back to the email.
Amy started A Tag called Back to School. What a great idea. I love it. so i'm joining in. There are Questions, we answer, and then we tag 5blogger. Since I really hate leaving anyone out? my 5 is Whoever! :) come join in. Let's see how far we can get this little Tag around the Blogging world. It's also interesting just how much we can learn about each other. note Amy I think was spoiled. :p She got to drive a car to school.

So here we go 5 questions...

What was your Favorite School Item to buy?

hmmmm Clothes! most specifically new shoes, not sneakers but Oxford type shoes for every day wear.  I loved trying the shoes on, and walking around the store with them on and modelling them for my parents. It was "fun". You also have to remember I'm 1 of 5 children. I can only imagine how much 'fun' my parents were having?

What was your Favorite Subject in School?

RECESS! totally I loved recess because it was the one time we could talk to friends or run away from non-friends. Snacks, and lunch and chatting. The rest? day filler. LOL

Did you ride the bus? Ride in the carpool? or Mom/Dad drive you in?

This is where you get to learn a bit about where I grew up. We Walked to school for elementary. I could get there in 8minute FLAT if  I walked through the field and about 12minutes if I went down the road and around the corner to the school yard. The only rules for Elementary were to stay on one side of the road until you got to the Cross walk lady. She crossed us to the main street.  It had to be a RULE because some kids like to cross at the "store" and spend their pennies on their way to school. If I followed the rules I would have to back track. That store is now gone and it's a flowershop now.
Jr High? I had to follow the same rule to walk to the Elementary school because that is where the Jr High bus picked us "down roaders" up.
When I went to High school I went to an All Girls school. I had a choice. We could continue to get the Bus to the Jr High and then on to the High School I was originally Zoned for and then get on another bus to get to the Girls School. way too much work and too many missed morning sleeping minutes. The School board the added in the City Bus plan. Since I lived on the City Bus route (I lived in the county), I could hop on that bus and our nice City Bus Driver would even add 3blocks to his route  in the mornings and afternoons to get us girls there ontime!  I miss that bus driver.  I think I could count on my two thumbs the number of times I drove myself to school for Grad year with my mommy's Station Wagon.  Really given the options? Bus was where we got to socialize.  Also? 5 kids? For university? I lived home and got a carpool ride from A Professor down the street along with 2 other neighbours.  See? didn't you want to know all that?

Did you have a Sack Lunch or Cafeteria?
More long answer.
Elementary school, I got to walk home 1hour for lunch time. My mom was home during day hours and worked a lot of what you all call Second Shift? We called that Evenings. So she was home. Lunch was usually soup and a sandwich, milk and BACK to school within a half hour so we could play with the bus kids. The bus kids were there all day and were the only ones to stay for lunch.  They had to change this in the late 80s when the Community put in a HUGE regional hospital next to the school, they now bus everyone to school and lunch is shorter.
Jr High, I was bussed so had to bring my own lunches, Sandwiches, fruit cups, puddings, juice bags. I had a 1-2.00 a week to buy milk.
High School was the same but I sometimes bought snacks but there was not really much of a lunch counter. It was a small kitchen and microwave. Brought my own lunches or we could buy lunch downtown, but really? why? if I can shop in the fridge of mommy for "free" :P If I bought lunch it was my money.

What is your favourite memory from school days?

My favourite memory, leaving! High School Graduation, that year was my most favourite year. It was so much fun planning Grad and well that feeling like it was all almost over. I also won with a friend a draw from the top fund raiser sales a chance to ride in a Limo for Prom night. The others in the draw were friends of mine, so we all agreed who ever won would share! YAY!

(Bonus question?) What I didn't like? the idea of University was next I think looking back if I had taken a year off to live as an adult in the working world? I would have had more success in University. I still haven't finished.

Okay if you got that far in my rambling post and want to play along? Go ahead.  Tag you're it!! Grab these 5 questions and share with us your answers.

Also in the words of Amy... cause I can't say it any better...

"*Plus I tag all of my readers!!!
If you do not want to join in no problem.

My favorite memory would be leaving too. You know, I was always jealous of those of you who walked home for lunch during school!
