Friday Fill-ins. Happy Memorial Day weekend for Those in the USA

Happy Memorial Day weekend to all who celebrate it :-)


And...here we go!

1. ___Carrot sticks and Hummus on ice, chips, strawberries, ice cubes, diet soda, and anything else I can fit in the car, oh and those nice roast beef Sandwiches with the pickles, hot peppers, onions, bell peppers, black olive, and some mustard. oh now I'm hungry__________ -- the best food to take on a picnic.
2. Summer __is going to be awesome this year, I'm planning it to be awesome, and not going to take no for an answer. Come on Summer, only 25/26days left_______.
3. ___I can't wear_______ flip flops.
4. To love someone is _____awesome________.
5. ______I should probably go on ________ a long hike.
6. When I crave food, it's usually ____have a drink of water first, then think about if I really want it____.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to _my walk with a friend, and time with my boys____, tomorrow my plans include __a trip to Sears to fix some glasses for 1 boy and then planning their summer daycamp they have to pick 1 week each, walk with a friend___ and Sunday, I want to ___relax oh and walk with a friend, a trip to a play ground might be nice too__!

And I write this for me really, and to make it all accountable and Written!! I forked over my 15.00, jumped on the scale and got me a High 5!~!! from my scale checker. Yep! she got her lifetime status the same time I did 7yrs ago in Dec2003. So she knows me. hehe I'm so glad she's still there really. There are about 4-5 people in the meeting too that have been there since then as well. They come they go they come they go, we all do the same. Life gets in the way. I'm planning for this to be a GO GO GO for me, and stick with it. I'm not getting younger and I'm convinced I will continue to learn as I continue to go to these meetings as well as while I age.  Everything changes and I'll have to change with it.


Oh you wanted to know the results?  3.2lbs loss! for the week, bringing me to a total of 10.6lbs loss. That also got me 2 pretty 5lb stickers, anddddddd my 5% loss sticker, yes I know you can now do the math and find out where I was but know this, that's 5% + a bit more total loss.  So next stop? get my way to 10% loss! So in 4wks I've lost 10.6lbs! doing what I should have been doing all this time and writing every bite.

Oh on the way out, I bought my MJ a candy tomato plant, it's for "cherry/tiny" tomatos. We'll see how it goes. I even bolted it into his carseat to drive it home. It's just a baby plant!

Potato Potahhhto

  This is a flower I found yesterday in the woods between my house and my neighbours. I have no idea what it is. so I took some weeds out of the way and let it grow! :) anyone got any ideas? 

In other news MJ and I planted some Potato eyes, these are our results. YAY! they are staring to sprout. I had almost given up hope. I think I'm more excited then he is... shhhh!

  Or it's a dandelion that entered our raised planter box. My Dad told me over the phone that after this gets high enough, we can cover it up and grow it up more. hehe We'll see.

Random Tuesday Thoughts, bring on the Tuesday

I'm so holidayed up, that it feels like Monday. I almost forgot it was Tuesday/and Garbage Day because yesterday was a Holiday Monday and felt like Sunday.

I was just reading over at Keely's about her leaning tower or Tree? I wonder if this neighbour is also telling Gertie and so and so that they should sue for the tree? hmmmmm Or maybe I'm the only evil gossip in my neighbourhood.

That reminds me I must get our of my nightie, I've got a package coming and uh this is not presentable and I'm sure my neighbour that sneakily stays home some days is bound to see me at the door and the Purolator guy will get a eye full cause well... oh just go read how Stacie goes to her Grad....

I may have lost 7.4lbs in 3wks (tomorrow I hope to lose another .8? all pray  now for the altar of truth to lie to me!) but I've got a bit to go! I should not be wearing that (I've since changed) to answer any doors! ACK!

The Holiday was so very very nice. I had heard that some parts of Canada got snowfalls, but here it was Sun sun sunny! we reached a high of 34C with the humidex. Yes there was humidex. I had every window in the house open in hopes of a cross wind. no such luck, stupid walls in the way.  We had Blizzards Saturday, The boys had (note I didn't) Orange Julius drinks on Sunday and then small DQ cones on Monday. I also manged to buy my boys a t-shirt each, and ball caps. I had to buy AJ more caps because I'm crazy. I'm starting to see lice in my dreams?

I bought more shampoo on Saturday too, more tea tree oil shampoos. For all the minty fumes, everyone's hair is super soft.

I'm still walking, aiming for 5nights a week, I'm hoping to make up for some lost time Sunday night with a double long walk tonight, we'll see... please mosquitoes, leave me alone.

Green tea is awesome! a nice drink on a hot day actually, I'm surprised that even HOT out and inside and sticking to everything and everyone, I still want tea? hot tea?

I'd love it if someone would send me this free... :P  It's very thirst quenching and it's all about getting your liquids in right? having them taste good is an added plus right?

Crop Circle, the only ones playing in it so far this year? the fox! I still dont' hve a great picture, she just sits there.

Mr5 's potatoes though are starting to sprout up! we planted 3 sets of eyes from a bag of  poatoes I had under the counter that we didn't eat. they are coming. I did work out the camera but they aren't on the computer yet... Tomorrow I'll have pics.

Mr10 is just over a month away from 11!!! and it's his magic birthday 11 on 11. He hasn't decided what to do yet. We have not decided what to suggest.


Mr 5 is watching Christmas cartoons on VHS tapes from say 1998? ever notice that the kids in Frosty the snow men never wear enough clothes? who wears a dress, or no pants under a winter coat and scarf when there's enough snow on the ground to build a snow man? weirdddddddddd

2. I'm looking forward to __going back to bed, today, something went through here, so I need 2 boys off to school and then I'll get back to the sleeping it off. _______.
3. _____morning Radio, waiting for news and weather_____ is what I'm listening to right now.
4. Potato salad must have ___Eggs__________ in it!
5. _____An egg on whole what English muffin(it's early)__ was the best thing I ate today.
6. Today was _the last day of school before a long weekend_______.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to ___enjoy some sun__, tomorrow my plans include _Boy1 going to a Trainshow, and the rest of us finding more fun in town____ and Sunday, I want to __Laze and relax and prepare for the holiday Monday for more lazing and relaxing___!

Today I have a Story, of Cook books

When I got married 15yrs ago, my Mother-in-law (H) and my Mom, (Mom), threw me a wedding shower. I've since learned that Wedding showers? Are not nearly this big in the rest of the world. The Hall was to fit 250 guests, if we used the truck bay, and the kitchen. We used it all! the Fire Trucks had to be parked out front. It was fun day, but this must be very much an island thing. There were prizes as nice and pretty as some of the gifts I received. There were guests and they were so generous and complimentary too. (Even with my extreme 90's Perm, thankfully this was pre digital photos)

One of the games at the shower was "bring in a recipe". The recipes were written, typed, pulled out of cook books and even scribbled onto receipts and grocery list, they had in their purses, while waiting to sign the guest book on the way into the hall. They would drop the recipe into the box and that was their entry for door prizes. I almost wrote my own recipe down! myself to get a prize, my sister in law made some pretty awesome wall hangings.  As the oldest of 5 children, I did, though, know how to cook. Mom and Dad worked, I would start supper while waiting for them to come home, or after I got home from work or univeristy myself. It was a busy time,but just the beginning of awesome. I didn't let my husband to be know I cooked or could cook well.  You know what happens when they learn you know how to do these things? You end up with the job.. that plan? yeah it didn't work out so well. I'm the main cook around here,it's dangerous the other way. Hubbie can now though cook a few things, when given directions.

Because my Hubbie-to-be's family thought I couldn't cook their shower gifts were Company's Coming Cookbooks. I received 12 cook books that day as Wedding Shower gifts, and I use every single one of them. The recipes in those books? Are everything a Canadian Girl needs to cook a meal for any occasion.  My mom was jealous of my gifts, she offered to keep them at her house until we got settled. I definitely packed them into the car first!

After the wedding and the bliss and a few boil overs (going from 7 people watching the pot to 2? takes practice) and some larger then necessary batches of food again I turned to those cook books. There were other cook books but really I can count on my thumb the one other book I used as much. It was a book of collected recipes because as you will notice, it's the dishes and recipes that are used the most by everyone that work the best.  Company's Coming does that too, it gives you the recipes to the foods you love with a simple and easy to find set of ingredients. The back covers say it all "Quick & Easy Recipes Everyday Ingredients"

In the last 15yrs, I've added to my collection, I call it a collection now. My kids love love love Pizza Dough from the Breads, Jean Pare I think this one was printed in 1997,(note sold out! of course, no wonder) it's stained, again a sign of a good Cook Book. I've even managed to turn this Pizza dough recipe into a bread machine recipe. Wet first, then go up the list and put the yeast on top away from the wet, and it works, every single time.   If you want to find more Company's Coming recipes and books and buy more books, they have a website, and news letter and Jean's Grand Daughter has a blog too about her cooking experiences.


I received nothing for this post, it came to me as I was reading Amanda Lovig Hagg's blog  cooking at home this past month. I did,though, let her know I wrote about her.  I thought you all might like to enjoy reading her blog too, and enjoy these recipes and cook books as much as I do. 
 

Random Tuesday Thoughts, Dentist so it's Tuesday

Ok so as I see by my Desktop Calandar it's Tuesday, get yourselves a Badge over at Keely's And get to some Random izing..

If you've been reading here for the last year, you've come to realize that I spend a lot of Tuesday's at the dentist. Remember readers don't let your dental care lapse!!! it could cost you a LOT of fillings, and removal of old filling and new fillings. I really now wonder how many of my teeth are actual teeth in there? Cleanings are getting easier though.

Tomorrow Mr5 gets to go to School orientation! ACK!! and a bus ride around the school. This should be "fun" LOL

I'm going to have to leave MRalmost11 nad Mr8 playing in the school yard while we do all this. I'm sure they can handle it. :P

I noticed some dresses on sale this week (and I use the word sale loosely as they are not cheap)and they have "Curve-tech". Apparently Curve-tech has built in bra with padded, underwire cups. So I have to ask. IF you need to wear a bra in your dress, isn't it safe to assume that your "girls" are big and that they don't need extra padding? really? I have the same problem everysingle year with bathing suits. If I wanted them bigger? I'd put an eye out or something. you know if someone got close.. maybe I should stop that talk now...


I've read 3 surveys this week and all of them asked what  are you currently reading? Blogs? isn't the answer they are looking for, so I'm off in search of a good book. Anyone with suggestions? Nicholas Sparks is not on my list. too much blah blah blah in the ones I've read. Action would be great, funny is good too.

Ever Been to Africa? no neither have I but Julie wants to go, go on over and give her a read, if you haven't already... Africa

yep that's me pimping her out.. she used the word not me, I have a firm belief she wont be offended at all? (If you are my family and reading? well you can just skip over the parts you don't like but click)

As for my family? really they aren't reading but I'm going to keep it simple for their future, you know for when FB takes over the world and sucks us into the "life is too social" media.

now I want a muffin, darn it but I don't want Muffin top. Altar of Truth night tomorrow, I'll sip my tea instead...

Well I think I've rambled enough, and you've heard enough. Critter count? The fox was lazing in the back yard yesterday, I got a pic but it's just her tail as she takes off. I'll try again and see if she's sunning herself. I think she leaves the kids at home so she can get some sun and a breather.

Friday Fill-ins, the Weekend got away from me

3. The third sentence on the 7th page of the book I'm reading: __book... uh oh no! I don't have a book in motion yet, but here's one my son is reading, it's on the desks... ""Once a fine looking manor,and easily the largest and grandest building for miles around,the Riddle House was now damp, derelict and unoccupied.________.
4. _____My Hubbie________ tickles my fancy. 
5. I was walking ______lastnight and went for 80minutes, I came home with nachos and diet soda for my hubbie but ate none of it msyelf, I also wasn't hungry when I got home but was thinking about eatin a bit before I left, funny how that works________.
6. __The things my boys say at times like this one from MJ "I wonder if you will have hair like daddy, none on top?" "I hope so then it wont get in my eyes all the time" he's 5! and so positive and it ______ makes me laugh!
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to __we walked and watched Robin Hood___, tomorrow(saturday) my plans include __sleeping in(done) and spending time with the boys, then walking(done)___ and Sunday, I want to _Veg out more with the big and little boys, I LOVE weekends____!

The Altar of Truth has Spoken

And I'm totally excited and happy to listen!!! I'm down 2lbs this week. GO ME!!!I don't eat supper before Weighin and went to the store to get me some supper on the way out.  I ended up getting some cut and mixed fruit. Hey if someone else does all the prep work, it's got to be easier. Right? and I think I deserved it.

I've been sticking to healthy rewards post meeting. I'm having the most trouble though with the feeling of crunch. I'm tired of popcorn, so I've moved on to rice cakes. Not fabulous but it's that "crunch" I miss from chips.

I'll keep moving forward, and get this weight off, I've promised myself that. I also bought a journal type book for 94Cents on teh clearance rack. It was pink and has hearts all over itself. (The meetings are at the grocerystore) I figure I could use the hearts to focus on the love of myself. I'm also keeping track of all the "fees" I'm spending. The current plan since I'm a lifetime member is 3wks paid in a row gets me 1 free trip to the altar of truth. I think if I write down the 45.00 I pay out, and then tally up all the 15.00 wks I don't have to pay, for the 4th in a row and the free weeks once I get to goal? I should be able to cancel out the $$ I've put in this time around? I know I'll never get the $$ back that I paid out in 2003-2009 between going, losing it all, getting pregnant, 3months postpartum frees, and my various attempts to lose this baby weight. I think it would be good to aim for September since I can't call him a baby once he starts going to school??

BTW when losing weight? you will need more birth Control options/planning. I still need to invest in a stick!!! 

OK so Total losses after 2 weeks on plan? 6.6lbs! YAY!!! Now off to the dentist, got to get my smile perfected for when I'm all beamy and showy offy!

Random Tuesday Thoughts, More Random is needed in my life

Boys, it's fun right? that's what all this is, fun?

Twitter really messed up this weekend hey? but I guess that's what it's all about getting all your poop all over the internet so you don't have to keep it private?   I really don't like FB new crap either. I'm really po-ed that they have this stupid "share" button on all my photo albums even when I say "friends only" I'm not friends with everyone on the internet. Just almost everyone...

Put that stupid game on Vacation mode for Mother's Day weekend so I could actually you know "mother" my kids, and didn't turn it back on. Dont' want to turn it back on either.

Late Bus here today, YAY! it's not my kids. I mean YAY it's almost summer and they will be here all day every day all summer long!



New Critter this week!! a bunny! there's a bunny living out under one of my birch trees, of course this also means the pansies that MJ and I transplanted from the middle of the lawn to down by the tree? are gone... all gone. nom... nom... nom... says the bunny!

Has anyone else noticed that 5yr olds talk constantly? They also will stall bedtime like nobody's business? He'd better enjoy this now because come September? oh the rules will be in! He never used to fight me on bedtime, he'd be down at 630 if I told him it was bed time now? he's got to run up and down the hall and slide into the end on his pj knees about 20times in a row.


My Camera needs a work out, I'm walking to the store today so I'll take it with me.

I was in the Grocerystore (I know biggg excitement there) and looking for a First Communion Card, there in the same display was "nurses Day cards" apparently according to the displays sticky outy thingy tag, it's tomorrow the 12th. I picked one up for my mom, it wont get ther euntil after the 12th but since it might be her last year a nurse? (retiring again..;) I'll be the good girl! It's bad enough her Mother's Day card got there a day late. You would think since I'm the one that got to call her Mom first, I'd be better at these things? nope! Daughter fail.

Breakfast is done now I just want to take a nap? I just got up!! must mean I need more tea. Anyone want a cup?

Speaking of Zzzzzzzees. That's the way we say it here, after living in the US for 5yrs we're odd. You should see the locals look at us when we spell our name out for them at the receptionist offices. 

The boys watched the Squeakqual with hubbie. He didn't get to see it at Christmas when I and the boys went, it was way funnier in the theater? WE also watched Avatar this week. Someone has one very large/huge/big/expansive/impressive imagination to think up all that scenery and story.

OK off I go to Be the Tuesday.... Anyone want to come? oh oldest boy is on a tour of middle school today. I'm so not ready!

1. Salsa and ____Humpty Dumpty/Old Dutch Seasalt with a Hint of Lime Spoons would be awesome in smaller serving size bags, because currentlyI can only think of eating a whole bag. The whole bag, is 330g. I don't need 330g, but I want them._Many of them mustbuy more, must not buy more________.
2. _____I've lowered my mayonnaise usage and so I've got alternate choices if I need them____ and you've even got mustard.
3. By the time I get home ____I didnt' go very far because I'm always home_____.
4. ____The diet soda in the car on the way home_________ is what I look forward to most when grocery shopping.
5. And I was dreaming ____apparently lastnight and woke hubbie up at 3am almost yelling "STATISTICS". I have no memory of it at all__________.
6. __Sunshine and Sand and the promise of well behaved kids______...is there anything else better?!
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to __spending time with hubbie vs my computer___, tomorrow my plans include _nothingg so far but I'm sure I can fill up the day____ and Sunday, I want to _Celebrate all the Moms____!

This whole WW thing continues-update

Since well I'm "back" at it, and some are actually reading? I'm going to tell you my results...

1week of following every ww rule to the book, accept my oil troubles resulted in 4.6lbs less weight on me.

I went out the other night to "cool off" after talking to Mr8 and his constant requests to talk to me. I was headed up my street, but saw a friend/neighbour and her son and hubbie on a side street. Her Mr 2 was pushing his pushcar into the middle of the street so I strategically placed msyelf into the middle of the street so the car coming up had to slow down. See I'm the pylon? I figure I was big enough to see, but Mr 2 wasn't. The car kept going in it's own direction, without turning into Mr 2's street. YAY! I started talking to Mr2's Mom, she walked beside me for 4 blocks! YAY! When She went back home? we arranged to go walking nightly starting this Friday! My Wednesdays and Thursday are currently booked for MRalmost 11's Judo and my Meetings, so That's 5/7 nights of walking planned. Now to get me some DEET in institutional size!

Random Tuesday isn't so Random when it's all I write?

Welcome back to Tuesday, I'm late again submitting my homework. Link up over there post and come back and read? or not, I see I lost 1 follower already? hmm was it something I said? or didn't say?

OK new goal in life, rid myself of that Stupid Starfleet Commander Extreme game. Step one, leave LEADERSHIP... done.  I think like Alcohol? this may take steps?

Another goal in life? last Wednesday I went back to my weight watchers meetings. I even stayed after the meeting for a refresher. Sometimes you just need someone to say "yeah it's possible again"

Why is it I just had to say "keep  your feet, hands, arms and words to yourself"?

Rogers? really? door to door marketing? not making me feel so secure if this is how you are going to push your products. I get my flyers, I don't want, I get my phonecalls I dont' want and you advertise on TV oh wait I don't get that thankfully :(

Homework.. yep.. fun times


Critter count, this past week? ants, and June Bugs. Oh June Bugs? it's MAY!!!

kids are fun, I'm sure I need more, since I'm not insane yet, this must not be the limit? then again, I think hubbie is insane.. shhhh don't tell him I said that..  I'll send my Babydust off to Keely!


Why is it that the younger two think that driving the older one crazy is a good thing? Poor mralmost 11 he's trying to complete a book report. i'm sure the other two have created a majority of the delay in completion of his masterpiece?

Wow! just had to check on my fleet.. so I can send it off again... BTW speaking of that game, ever notice how you can meet a lot of interesting people on the internet? Well send out some less pain vibes to my new friend Stephen! :)


Random, did I tell you about the reindeer that came for easter? I wonder if that's why my Christmas gifts were not exactly what I wrote Santa for? do you think the Easter bunny stole his reindeer?
