The Snow!

For those interested in Chair, I'll start there. Today it's Stunt Double's day. He's out there trying to outshine Chair but I think that maybe this amount of snow has done him in? That little line there is the top of the chair. So while you gaze at the snowy whiteness of my back yard... Well just Gaze it's easier to gaze than to shovel it.

The Christmas Season is speeding on by. We've had a lovely simple Christmas this year. The boys were happy with their gifts. Santa found us all, he's good like that, magical even.

And Then I Would Have Missed It

\
AJ's View
This morning was a bit busier than usual. I usually make my very best effort to get the boys out the door and on the bus so I can get things here done. Last night I took my two youngest out for hair cuts and shopping. We had got home at bedtime by the time all was said and done and that's when I hear, "but what about my homework?" ACK! I didn't even think of that. I'm so used to the Elementary School mindset that December isn't much of a homework month because well the kids are either hopped up on sugar or tired from going to Christmas events with their families. OOPS! So I told My middle man AJ that I'd write a note and so off he went to bed. I got him up as usual and while he was waiting for Breakfast I said "well how about we see how much you can do and I'll drive you in about 30minutes later?" And so we did.
This is the View from his side of the car, and since I wont text and Drive or phone and drive or take pictures and drive? This is his Picture.  I'm loving it! What a sunrise. And we would have missed it all if we hadn't taken the time to fit in that homework this morning.

No Snow Day Today

I'm sure you are all wonder how the chairs survived the storm?  It seems there was a lot of snow. The Provincial Plows got it taken care of and then we went out and cleared the rest. The boys did not get their much wished for snow day today. We Canadians we clean up nice! s'noproblem.
It started like this...

As the day went on it warmed up, and the snow kept on coming.

In order to keep me busy, I made fudge.

This is my Mother-in-law's recipe, and it works every time. And I I got to the point where I actually got it to the right temp without using my timer! Go Me. What? you want to see the finished fudge? uh well uh... sorry the boys helped me eat it. I did put a piece in their lunches today.  I know I'll get the evil eye from the school teachers but ha! it's December.  They've just worn off their post Halloween sugar rushes. Time for new ones.  And they worked off most of it playing in the snow.

The Canadian Child was the first one out the door.

And then we continued to watch the snow fall, and fall and fall. I fell asleep in the evening watching Christmas Girl Movies on W.  And wow! Candace Cameron? yeah she's not DJ anymore.

So This morning I woke up to this...

Prestorm Work & Holiday Greetings

So this is, I think, the first year I've had to move the chairs. As you saw yesterday the bars of "New Deck" are not playing well with others.New Deck keeps getting himself involved in a huge way in the photos I take. I know from history at if I keep the chairs in their current location, I will not get any pictures this year that mean anything or can tell a story.

So yesterday after hearing that a storm was coming through with a dumping of snow. Forecast are 15-30cm and 40cm in other locations,  I went out and moved the chair to a location with better window access from a Bedroom window and the bathroom window.

The result:
location adjustment 2013/14 prestorm

So while I was out there moving things, I decided to add in a Stunt Double! as most of you know there were originally 4 chairs. Original Chair got a bit tipsy on New Deck and broke down to a point of just falling apart. It wasn't a big deal to the rest of the chairs, but he took it hard. So I put in a new Ringer as seen above. So next up, Stunt Double. He's out there to the right of the deck. If we get enough snow that Chair 2013/14 is having a hard time dealing, we will be set up to observe the Winter Habits of Stunt Double. Mr Double has agreed with a lot of push and shove to leave the confines of the New Deck, and Snow it out, should the need arise. With only 9 Days to Winter, it's the least he can do.

New Purple Chair? She may be a Party animal but she's acting all shy and staying up on the New Deck for the year. We'll see if she gets dumped on to the point where Purgola has to be Mrs Stunt Double.

And from Home and Yard  her at the KyootyCenter to Your Homes I wish you a Happy Holidays..

Trapped

We all have days like this, we're running from A to B and back to XyZ all at the same time. Taking today's Chair picture shows exactly how I feel by these days.  When we're running from here to to there, even though we get out of the cage? We're trapped in our cars or in our day planners!
And it's days/weeks like this where I feel I have to apologize for not being here to entertain.

Trapped! Help!

When in Doubt? Random!

Happy Tuesday Randomizers. Are you linking up this week? go see Stacy. She's got the linky.

Stacy
Well It's another Tuesday and I don't have a lot to spill and not a lot of snow to talk about, so I'll random about all the little things that don't seem to be enough to post anything long about.

Curling this past weekend was a great time for my two younger boys. They were at 2 different rinks this weekend so it took some magic scheduling but we got them there.  They had a great time and met some new friends. Lots of hand shaking and congratulating on some excellent shots. A really good sport for my boys. I call it a Gentlemen's sport as it's not quite like other Ice Sports. It's competitive but it's a friendly competitive. Most people do not go home missing teeth in Curling, or having been run over by a skate while speeding around corners. It's nice to see teams talking about great plays and well laid out rocks.

The rest of the weekend I felt like I just wasn't getting Christmas-ed up enough so I pulled out some of the decorations. I got the boxes of tree ornaments in the livingroom waiting for our Tree to show itself. The tree is in the garage but not down from the high shelf yet.  I'm going to claim hernia on that one. HA!

In other news I may be moving office. My Desk will be moved out of the livingroom, so Blogging will move to the Dinning room with better views of the Chair and all the Chair's doings. Speaking of Chair since I know you are all wondering...

I actually went outside for this shot today. chair is waiting for more snow I think. I wonder though if I should go out and move it a bit so it's straight on? those that have seen chair before what do you think? leave it or move it? ?

And while I was surfing for chair's photo I found this one!

My oldest, when he was in Grade 1. His teachers helped him with this and it came in a frame but I went to take it out for decorating at the frame was a mess. I'm hoping to take it to a photo place because the photo paper is also suffering. I took a pic with my phone so I have it stashed for all the world to see and of course forever and ever Amen internet!

So that's my Random today, oh you want more? what else...

I baked this past week too but all 88 cookies are gone! I have heard that 1 person liked them so much he's embarrassed to tell me he ate 12! . Hey I'll take that as a compliment. I'm sure the red Cookie Mix company that sold me the package will too.  Yes I faked it! But it was my egg and butter and mixing and rolling in sugar and adding of extra flour that perfected them.

I will have to bake some more but right now I'm craving a cheese burger and I'm trying not to go there. If though anyone wants to get me Island Pizza? feel free to send that my way. It has to b e from MY Island though.

Holiday Baking, Love is the Ingredient That Matters

So I was surfing along over on FB and I came across this recipe from my friend, and she posted the link. The instructions looked simple.

Food.com hosted the original recipe and I thought, Saved! I'm saved, even if it's winter I'm sure I can do this. I've seen other people with ice cubes in their house, what really could go wrong?

I sat on the idea for about 2wks. Today, I thought I can do this today, since my plan for sugar cookies is a dud without the right coloured sugar. I read the instructions over and over, I reviewed them in my head and yeah I took a picture..

Ice Cubes

fig, 2 Chair is Jealous, I see snow

So since that was going well, I figured, I can do this bigger! and I can do it better and I'll add some fruit. I even measured the water to 1/4cup... The freezer Drawer was full, so I put it in the oven to wait...

And that's when I knew something was wrong... (Hangs head in undomesticated goddess shame)
