The Snow!

For those interested in Chair, I'll start there. Today it's Stunt Double's day. He's out there trying to outshine Chair but I think that maybe this amount of snow has done him in? That little line there is the top of the chair. So while you gaze at the snowy whiteness of my back yard... Well just Gaze it's easier to gaze than to shovel it.

The Christmas Season is speeding on by. We've had a lovely simple Christmas this year. The boys were happy with their gifts. Santa found us all, he's good like that, magical even.

And Then I Would Have Missed It

\
AJ's View
This morning was a bit busier than usual. I usually make my very best effort to get the boys out the door and on the bus so I can get things here done. Last night I took my two youngest out for hair cuts and shopping. We had got home at bedtime by the time all was said and done and that's when I hear, "but what about my homework?" ACK! I didn't even think of that. I'm so used to the Elementary School mindset that December isn't much of a homework month because well the kids are either hopped up on sugar or tired from going to Christmas events with their families. OOPS! So I told My middle man AJ that I'd write a note and so off he went to bed. I got him up as usual and while he was waiting for Breakfast I said "well how about we see how much you can do and I'll drive you in about 30minutes later?" And so we did.
This is the View from his side of the car, and since I wont text and Drive or phone and drive or take pictures and drive? This is his Picture.  I'm loving it! What a sunrise. And we would have missed it all if we hadn't taken the time to fit in that homework this morning.

No Snow Day Today

I'm sure you are all wonder how the chairs survived the storm?  It seems there was a lot of snow. The Provincial Plows got it taken care of and then we went out and cleared the rest. The boys did not get their much wished for snow day today. We Canadians we clean up nice! s'noproblem.
It started like this...

As the day went on it warmed up, and the snow kept on coming.

In order to keep me busy, I made fudge.

fudge

end result
This is my Mother-in-law's recipe, and it works every time. And I I got to the point where I actually got it to the right temp without using my timer! Go Me. What? you want to see the finished fudge? uh well uh... sorry the boys helped me eat it. I did put a piece in their lunches today.  I know I'll get the evil eye from the school teachers but ha! it's December.  They've just worn off their post Halloween sugar rushes. Time for new ones.  And they worked off most of it playing in the snow.

The Canadian Child was the first one out the door.

And then we continued to watch the snow fall, and fall and fall. I fell asleep in the evening watching Christmas Girl Movies on W.  And wow! Candace Cameron? yeah she's not DJ anymore.

So This morning I woke up to this...

Prestorm Work & Holiday Greetings

So this is, I think, the first year I've had to move the chairs. As you saw yesterday the bars of "New Deck" are not playing well with others.New Deck keeps getting himself involved in a huge way in the photos I take. I know from history at if I keep the chairs in their current location, I will not get any pictures this year that mean anything or can tell a story.

So yesterday after hearing that a storm was coming through with a dumping of snow. Forecast are 15-30cm and 40cm in other locations,  I went out and moved the chair to a location with better window access from a Bedroom window and the bathroom window.

The result:
location adjustment 2013/14 prestorm

So while I was out there moving things, I decided to add in a Stunt Double! as most of you know there were originally 4 chairs. Original Chair got a bit tipsy on New Deck and broke down to a point of just falling apart. It wasn't a big deal to the rest of the chairs, but he took it hard. So I put in a new Ringer as seen above. So next up, Stunt Double. He's out there to the right of the deck. If we get enough snow that Chair 2013/14 is having a hard time dealing, we will be set up to observe the Winter Habits of Stunt Double. Mr Double has agreed with a lot of push and shove to leave the confines of the New Deck, and Snow it out, should the need arise. With only 9 Days to Winter, it's the least he can do.

New Purple Chair? She may be a Party animal but she's acting all shy and staying up on the New Deck for the year. We'll see if she gets dumped on to the point where Purgola has to be Mrs Stunt Double.

And from Home and Yard  her at the KyootyCenter to Your Homes I wish you a Happy Holidays..

Happy Holidays from KyootyCenter

Trapped

We all have days like this, we're running from A to B and back to XyZ all at the same time. Taking today's Chair picture shows exactly how I feel by these days.  When we're running from here to to there, even though we get out of the cage? We're trapped in our cars or in our day planners!
And it's days/weeks like this where I feel I have to apologize for not being here to entertain.

Trapped! Help!

When in Doubt? Random!

Happy Tuesday Randomizers. Are you linking up this week? go see Stacy. She's got the linky.

Stacy
Well It's another Tuesday and I don't have a lot to spill and not a lot of snow to talk about, so I'll random about all the little things that don't seem to be enough to post anything long about.

Curling this past weekend was a great time for my two younger boys. They were at 2 different rinks this weekend so it took some magic scheduling but we got them there.  They had a great time and met some new friends. Lots of hand shaking and congratulating on some excellent shots. A really good sport for my boys. I call it a Gentlemen's sport as it's not quite like other Ice Sports. It's competitive but it's a friendly competitive. Most people do not go home missing teeth in Curling, or having been run over by a skate while speeding around corners. It's nice to see teams talking about great plays and well laid out rocks.

The rest of the weekend I felt like I just wasn't getting Christmas-ed up enough so I pulled out some of the decorations. I got the boxes of tree ornaments in the livingroom waiting for our Tree to show itself. The tree is in the garage but not down from the high shelf yet.  I'm going to claim hernia on that one. HA!

In other news I may be moving office. My Desk will be moved out of the livingroom, so Blogging will move to the Dinning room with better views of the Chair and all the Chair's doings. Speaking of Chair since I know you are all wondering...

I actually went outside for this shot today. chair is waiting for more snow I think. I wonder though if I should go out and move it a bit so it's straight on? those that have seen chair before what do you think? leave it or move it? ?

And while I was surfing for chair's photo I found this one!

My oldest, when he was in Grade 1. His teachers helped him with this and it came in a frame but I went to take it out for decorating at the frame was a mess. I'm hoping to take it to a photo place because the photo paper is also suffering. I took a pic with my phone so I have it stashed for all the world to see and of course forever and ever Amen internet!

So that's my Random today, oh you want more? what else...

I baked this past week too but all 88 cookies are gone! I have heard that 1 person liked them so much he's embarrassed to tell me he ate 12! . Hey I'll take that as a compliment. I'm sure the red Cookie Mix company that sold me the package will too.  Yes I faked it! But it was my egg and butter and mixing and rolling in sugar and adding of extra flour that perfected them.

I will have to bake some more but right now I'm craving a cheese burger and I'm trying not to go there. If though anyone wants to get me Island Pizza? feel free to send that my way. It has to b e from MY Island though.

Holiday Baking, Love is the Ingredient That Matters

So I was surfing along over on FB and I came across this recipe from my friend, and she posted the link. The instructions looked simple.

Food.com hosted the original recipe and I thought, Saved! I'm saved, even if it's winter I'm sure I can do this. I've seen other people with ice cubes in their house, what really could go wrong?

I sat on the idea for about 2wks. Today, I thought I can do this today, since my plan for sugar cookies is a dud without the right coloured sugar. I read the instructions over and over, I reviewed them in my head and yeah I took a picture..

Ice Cubes

fig, 2 Chair is Jealous, I see snow

So since that was going well, I figured, I can do this bigger! and I can do it better and I'll add some fruit. I even measured the water to 1/4cup... The freezer Drawer was full, so I put it in the oven to wait...

And that's when I knew something was wrong... (Hangs head in undomesticated goddess shame)

Wordless Wednesday (Chair Drama)

One Lonely Chair left out in the cold, and a snow day for the school kids. I think we got less snow than some American States today.

Random Tuesday Thoughts Assistant

Today I'm Randoming up for Tuesday! Go on visit a few blogs and share. Today was defefinitely a Random kind of day.
I started out early. I had to return my loaner phone. They could not fix my Cellphone for less than 325.+and so I asked them to send mine back. :( I will have to have a funeral for my cellphone. I said it before I didn't need a cellphone well look now I do! That seems to be the way it goes with new products. I  mean no one needed an electric stove before they were invented did they?
Speaking of stoves. I went out today with my friend to help her pick out a stove. There are a LOT of stoves on the market. I'm a simple coil burners kind of person. I like simple things, but she's on the hunt for a stove that will fit into her house. Her counters are no cooperating, her backsplash is not cooperating and well I was there for the moral support. The "you need a stove, yes I know your BBQ has worked for the last 1.5yrs but it's time"  So while she talked to floor staff at a few local shops ,I took her little man for a walk around the store. This little guy knows exactly what he wants... yep! Chairs!!!!

I must say he's got some fabulous chair hunting skills! I don't know that this chair would work for a snow chair. It apparently was quite comfy. I did not see a price tag, and yes it does recline. I have to wonder though if the missing price means scary dollars? I mean it's not the dollarama. I could though not convince him to try out the Barbie Chair. He was perfectly happy with Tinkerbell.

After this store we went to another where he picked out a Winter coat for my oldest son. I had Assistant #1's Mom try it on for me since I didn't take my Teen out of school today to shop with me.
Mom took her job seriously,  Jacket was 1/2 price. Score! and another local shop gave us a discount card. so I saved me 100.00 today!  Score! not that I would have spent that 100.00 on a jacket my child will grow out of? I'll have to check after the holidays to see if they have any left in next years size? I know he's going to grow again.  It's those "sales" that get you though.

We also hit the hardware store where they had the kinds of window Candles I remember from every Christmas ever! Much easier than lights on the roof.

Not much other Random today. I had to stand all the snow chairs up again today too. Cold wind coming in from the North, but I hear there maybe some snow work for them this week.

If you've got some Random, go on over to Stacy's and link on up.

BTW did you know there is such a thing as Gummy Mice? larger than Gummy worms, and gummy Sharks?ICK!

Much Better Start to Snow Chair Season.

I got up at 430am and looked out the window, yep Snow! I didn't call it a chair snow day yet though because there is always a chance I will sleep through the snow and it will melt.

I give you the 8am snow chair...

snow flakes keep falling on my seat...

So about 2hours later I hear BANG!! it almost sounded like thunder? So I had to investigate. Seems the 3 Chairs for Friday Gals all fell over. I could have swore I heard "And we all Fall Down" or "I've fallen and I can't get up". I wonder if maybe they had too much fun on their Friday night? Drunk on too many snowflakes maybe?

                                                                                  We all Fall Down.

Fridge Post

What's in your Fridge?

Speaking of Cold since the Chairs aren't covered in snow yet, I was over at The Headless Family Blog and she was talking Fridges today. This is the New Fridge. It contains mostly Condiments, because my family has an addiction to pancake syrup, maple syrup, chocolate syrup, carmel syrup, tomato sauces BBQ sauces, hot sauces,Salad dressings, and Sandwich spreads. Refridgerate after opening? yep!
Milk (note it's in a bag there on the bottom door shelf, very Canadian) and the Carton of what we call Homo milk up here, or Whole Milk in the USA. We go through about 16 litres of milk every 2wks, not including chocolate milk that shows up when we shop hungry.  Milk up here comes in a bag of 3 bags that amount to 4 liters total. I'm paying 6.06/4litres Since the new Fridge showed up last month I've been buying the homo(genized) milk in the 2litre Carton so it fits in that top shelf of the door right there beside the Naughty Cow. Essentials. Also not viewable from this angle are 5lbs of Carrots, celery, and some defrosting ground beef that I turned into meat sauce for tonight's pasta.
There are also a few snack packs that aren't in view because I managed to find them for 1.25 a pack and we're down to 3 I think. One boy will not eat a sandwich to save his life. Really nothing with bread on it. I've been trying to be creative, it's not working. Tea Biscuits, or mini pizzas work though.
As it's close to Grocery day this fridge is not as full as usual. I can't wait to fill it up again on Friday.  I am so far liking the Drop in freezer on the bottom. It's much easier to have everything at arms level in the Fridge and the less reached for things in the lower Freezer.
I'm happy with the fridge, but I'm not happy that we had to buy it in a hurry when our previous fridge decided Freezing and cooling food was optional.

Ugh the Rabbit Hole that is a Cellphone Companies and Makers.

Today instead of my Random Tuesday Thoughts I'm writing....

GRRRR!!! Letters

Dear VMobile
You suck! you really do suck the life out of your customers. Why oh why is a customer on a 3yrs plan only getting a 1yr warranty and why oh why doesn't that warranty covering the actually phone itself? Also the Phone was a gift. Phones aren't indestructible.

 Kyoot and unhappy

Dear LG repair people,
You suck too, really are you that unqualified that you can't fix a phone for less than it cost to buy one? Why not mkae phones that are repairable?  It will make people come back, maybe.

Unhappy but always Kyoot

Before I got a cellphone I didn't need a cellphone. Really my kids could call the house, and I was here but now that they are older they are out of the house more and I am out of the house more chasing the to their events.  The cellphone life is susposed to make my life easier, make it easier to contact my kids, know where my kids are, when my kids are... maybe that's what I need though back to life with NO Cellphone and no one gets any Money from me, in any month?  Life sucks. (hear that LG, not good SUCKS)

Oh and will you look at that,as if on cue?

Dear Rogers,
Get off my lawn! stop sending sales people out door to door. Not good business. People do not want you creeping around their yards, especially during day time working hours? Most of my neighbours are at work. He did though take in the Garbage cans, which was my kids job. So they may like you today.

Still Kyoot (cute)

Tired Tuesday RTT

So it's another Tuesday here at the Kyootycenter. The boys are all as usual being kyoot, so I'm going to go and join up over at Stacy's with Random Tuesday Thoughts.

Stacy

Dentists. What's a Tuesday for my family without a visit to the dentist. Yep! off we go for a cleaning for one child. I'm still trying to convince him a cleaning is a spa treatment for his teeth. No? no one else sees that? You sit there and someone cleans your teeth for you.

The chairs are doing their best, there is snow today but it's not anything like this...

Not yet January levels

Usual November Snow Levels
I am though reminded that we will totally get to January levels. Yep snow snow snow, it's coming. I promise and I also promise it will melt by May at the latest.

Avon will be arriving today. I think. If you have ordered (yeah there may be some locals reading here now. ACK!) I will deliver. Xing fingers it shows up. I guess Remembrance Day threw them off.

This is the year I've decided to add a watermark to chair. Got to love that Ap! :) Now if only I knew how to make it all fun and easy on my camera? hmm? Cellphone easy? camera? not so much. You'd think I hadn't been blogging for 8yrs this fall?

Also thinking of all the Canadian Soldiers going out to the Philippines for the next bit to help with the Clean up of the Typhoon that hit there. Praying for those families that have been left homeless.

The Halloween Hangover

So it's 2 days after Halloween and my kids? well they are about as active as this guy here.

Fall Storm means Fallen Chair weather

We had 12 visitors this year,  and this was the first year I stayed home with my hubbie. The two younger boys went out with friends to gather supplies for winter? Well they wont last to the first day of winter at this rate.  I know this is fact.
My new plan? Let them have at it. I didn't let them eat it all yesterday because it was a school day, but once they were home for the weekend? well it's safer for us all if they eat it themselves. I'm not going to police the treats, I'm not going to take away treats and I'm not going to tell them they can't have what they worked to get.  I will though enforce the school's 1 treat per lunch/snack per day just to keep the teachers happy. Them  being loopy and bouncy on school time isn't fair to the teachers but them being crazy or lazy on my time totally reasonable. I'm also hoping they will not fall into trap where they think because someone said they can't have it? they have inhale it all before someone takes it, or someone says they can't eat it or they are hiding it in their bellies. No one can steal your treats if they are already in your belly.

The costumes are being washed and stored today and we'll move on to the Remembering of those who were lost and those who fought in the First and Second World Wars and other Wars that have happened along the way.

I hope you all are enjoying your Halloween Hangovers.

(edit for spelling and oopsies, really enhale is inhale... I'm going to need less chocolate brain)

Random Tuesday Thoughts, Bird, Appliances are Toast.

Hey there Readers, you know it's Tuesday when....

Yep You know it's Tuesday when I mention Dentist. I'm slow on my game though, my Tuesday Dentist was last week. I don't know how it happens but Tuesdays just happen to be the best days for me to get any dental work done. I think because well Mondays are you know Mondays, and who really wants to fog up a Friday with the potential for "oh you have a cavity" or "yeah we're just going to take some xrays" (oh how I hate biting on those films). So Wednesday of course is the Camel's Day, can't mess that up, so Tuesday it is, because Thursday is just too close to Friday. Am I right?

So I ended up posting about my month of toasted appliances. Last weekend during Thanksgiving our Microwave died. I was trying to pop popcorn for my snack before turkey dinner. You know the snack you eat to keep you from eating 2 meals before the food gets to the table? I put it in 3m4sec and start... about 2minutes in I am smelling this off burning electronics smell. You know the one? Yep not one single popped kernel in the bag. The only thing I did the week before differently? Clean the microwave and ask my Son to clean all the stuff around it. So good bye microwave. I did some personal inventory. Do we need a microwave? what other than my popcorn and tea reheating do I use it for? I haven't bought a new one. The boys do use it for their easy mac, but oh well, real KD it is. They know how to use that pot on the stove. If they water needs to boil a bit faster? we can plop it in the kettle and then transfer it. (Please Kettle don't give out on us).  So that little disaster is solved, we'll wait for a really good sale or get used to life without the microwave.
"You know kids? I didn't have a microwave in my house until I was like 14? "
Next up this past Sunday Hubbie is getting his lunches made for the week to take to work. He reaches in to the freezer and said "ewwwwwwwwwww". I look and he's squashed one of my "I'll save that for later, black bannanas." It's no longer frozen, Squish Squish! We do some more feeling around in the freezer and realize nothing is as cold as it should be... oh no! So this is how that FB status started Monday morning.

"Dear Fridge,
There was no Memo, just because the microwave up and died last weekend doesn't mean it's your turn.

Dear Car Fridge,
you may be my new best friend. Keep keeping that milk cold? K thanks.

Dear Milk,
No I will not eat you as fast as I ate the ice cream last night.

Dear stomach and butt,
yes that was a on of event, no we will not be buying any more ice cream."
Monday was also my Avon order day, so I had plugged some orders in that morning and got another later in the day. As I got the email I'm thinking  of the Stride Rite Gum Commercial with the Ostrich.
"Ring  another one up for the Bird" yep!

This weekend we will be back to Curling for the younger 2 boys. So winter is on the way. The snow is on the way. Yes I said Snow!

StacyThis week I'll go with the wine Badge!

These Last

My Mr Middle turned another  year older. Another Birthday has come and gone and so he's another year closer to a Driver's Licence and the legal Drinking age, and Graduating and so many more things that come after these birthdays.

While he's getting older he's also getting more responsible. He planned his own party, all we had to do was fork over the moola. WOW! He took some friend with his Dad and wallet. I think the Wallet was the key to the whole plan?

While they were playing Lazer tag I was home cleaning house as Mr Middle also decided that his friends were coming to the house for cake and pizza. The boy had plans. We did our best. He's a happy Camper. While in the arcade of the local spot for fun he had tickets to cash in, one of the items he picked up was this...

These Last
They are much larger then the ones that littered the bottom of our Halloween bags. The bottom because they were the very last thing we'd eat and today when I took one out of the wrapper I was reminded why they were always so easy to find at the bottom of the bag. ick!!! If everyone gives my kids these for Halloween this year? their Candy will be safe. And it is on this note we move from the Thanksgiving, birthday portion of the month and on to Halloween candy belly ache. The boys are counting down. They are also still working on picking out their costumes. Last minute! yep even Costumes will fall under "These Last"

To my new readers, I say Hey! welcome and thanks all for reading.

Walking or Hunting?

I went walking this morning, I've been pretty good and going almost every morning. YAY! and this is what I found?
Hunting or walking
And this down here? That's lunch test #1. One of my boys will not eat sandwiches at school. Sandwiches are easy meals but he doesn't like them, so I'm constantly searching for new ideas. I got a recipe email in my inbox and fixed it. This is Biscuit Dough mixed as usual and then I just put Pizza sauce and cheese on top. Since it was a test I didn't use meat on these, but I did find out how to find out what all my kids are doing? The smells brought them all out of the wood work, and there were none of the 6 left for lunches this morning. I will make another batch tonight with the meat added and veg.  YAY! Score!
