Spring, yeah uh no, not yet...I'm still taking pictures of abandon chair. It keeps me busy.
I know it's blurry. I'm not good at this photography stuff, I'm very much a point and shoot kind of person.



But mother nature is not cooperating. It rained all night Sunday into Monday, then at about 9am yesterday it all turned to snow, The chair did well, it seemed to shake it off or wiggle it's shoulders in a way as to not let the snow stick but I think it must have fell asleep over night because this morning there is tell tale signs of about 7cm of snow. So two steps forward and 1 step back into winter?

I won something, well it feels like I won something. Headless mom over at The adventures of The Headless Family is decluttering, it's a win win situation. Her kids are outgrowing stuff, mine is just getting an introduction to some of her "Stuff". I can't say Thank you Enough!! Thank you AJ will be super pleased.

Hernia,it's recovering,tomorrow I start walking around my block here. Oh anyone play with Google maps? I took a walk on the weekend with the little yellow dude and a satellite map around my old neighourhood.I used to walk4-6miles a night with my neighbour, helped knock 65/80lbs off that year. It brought back a lot of memories and like Nennette's clip of her old place in Hawaii in LifeCandy, it was a sentimental journey.
Memories are great.

What else is in my Random Thought brain for today. I had to laugh a bit today, I made Popcorn last night in the microwave for the boys, I put it in paper bags to go into their lunch. This morning I hear "you've got a sandwich and popcorn, that's it you ate all the other lunch supplies yesterday after school" Luckily I made the bags BIG! Maybe it's time for groceries, and restocking the shelves with things other then pizza?

OH speaking of Pizza, TJ won Second Place this weekend at bowling! they had an in-house tournament, he won 15. Greco dollars,(it's an eastern Canada chain I think, I am not paid for that link, it's just for explanation purposes!) and decided we could all have pizza for supper, 2 medium pizzas, one mommy and daddy like and 1 the boys like. What a guy! Hubbie was happy because well he didn't have to cook. I'm a bit tired of pizza and KFC now. I want my kitchen back. As long as he drags the Crocklikepot, Bread maker and washes down the heavy broiler pan, I think I can get back to cooking "real" food! Now the bathroom, no I think that scrubbing would totally blow our my internal stitches, don't you think?

The Chair vs a Sunday day

Mid After noon update on the chair, it's raining tonight so I wonder what tomorrow will bring. It reached 11C today.

Beautiful Day

Today I went and got around the main snowbank in the middle of the deck and took a picture from the top of the stairs. The snow is retreating. According to my Weather Feed on FB, it's 10C at the moment. I think it might be a bit warmer but the snow is kind keeping it cooler. I'll take another picture tonight once the sun does down. YAY! sun! no jackets required today.

More Spring Chair sightings

This is today's updated picture of the Abandon Chair. It's hard to really get that Spring will happen when you look out your Kitchen window while washing a few dishes, (no not the heavy ones) and see this sight. EAster is only 2wks away, it makes you wonder how is it that an Easter Bunny will come here? How is it that Easter is images of Bunnies, Chicks, lambs, flowers, baskets of eggs, and green grass, when I get to see this?

The driveway is now clear from 1/4 way down to the road, of all snow, it's now dirt. The kids? they can most definitely go out tomorrow and slide down the front lawn into the ditch on their sleds,cause it's spring, right? That's what we will do in spring. I will of course watch from the front window. Today the high was 10C but it takes a lot of those 10Cdays to melt about 4.5feet of snow! I will wait, and in about 2-3months I will be posting images of my kids on a Slip and Slide or going to the beach. It will happen, it's happened every year for the past 30+++++ years I've been on the planet, it will happen again, Right? please tell me I'm right?

Things to note according to MJ today

This is where "art" has gone in this family. These are stick figures, so I asked who is that (points to anyone of the figures) and he starts explaining. They are Super Team.

and he's got M, L and W on top of each one, Super team he says Mario, Luigi and Warrio, so you think maybe too much DS/nintendo time in the house? so there is another picture and that one even has a pipe and a door because "see I went down the pipe and it took me in there, and then I came out the door, the door opened but I didn't go in again"
So I said who is this one (one with the circle like a drop of water?)
"That's You, and AJ and ME are going to rescue you and you've got a crown", "Yayyyy I get to be Peach?" I'm so glad he appreciates the value of giving the mommy a crown.
MJ:"yep!" and he bounces off to do something else.

My Belly button according to MJ

I was just looking at my belly button/flat and MJ says "it's broken" he pulls up his shirt "it should look like this, tiny" and points.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind next time I'm in charge of making my bellybutton look good.

AJ got home from school, and now the pictures and my bellyflat have been forgotten, they've inhaled a bag of popcorn and about a cup or raisins between them, and the DS is out and they are discussing with great emotion (OK it's arguing, you know that) how to WIN!


OH and for those waiting to see the abandon Chair... it's coming along... slowly it's 10C for the high today, sun is shinning, I snuck out the to the deck to grab me some vitamin D.



Maybe by next week I can sit in one nonabandon chair and sit out there at the Patio table. It could happen! Spring does happen up here. I know I've seen it before.

Random Tuesday, it's back predictable? me?

OK so it's Tuesday, and I've got my snazzy Purple Random Tuesday badge that I copy pasted and linked from over here....

I'm a follower, I like to play with the big kids. Speaking of big kids, I'm weaned off the sippy cup,and I'm parenting solo during the daytime hours. YAY! for slow but steady recovery. I'm still seeping but it's just seepage, no one ever died from seepage right? my Dr is till on vacation I think. I didn't bother going to visit he intern at the ER, waiting times suck.

Let's see, kids, TJ has to do a food log this past weekend. I of course had to write the teacher an explaination for the less then stellar choices. I just couldn't live with myself sending him in with the following entries, "hot dogs,hamburgers, fries, ice cream, Creameggs, Toast, cinnamon sugar, frosted flakes, more hot dogs, more hamburgers, tacos...etc" all premade or overly salted stuff. I wrote "I'm on second week of recovery from abdominal surgery, my husband(who doesn't usually cook) and my in laws, (who have retired from cooking) have been supplying the boys with food. I felt a need to explain" cause seriously if you've been reading here over the last oh 5yrs, you know I like to bake from scratch, youknow I like real food, and you know I like whole wheat flour, apples sauce and LESS sugar and salt in my recipes. I cringed when he lft for school. Maybe it's the control freak in me?
AJ? his new goal is life is to drive MJ crazy. HE must say his name about 8-30times a day in a row even. Why? I' don't know? power trip at being 3.5yrs older? he's smarter? Maybe but it's really not easy to listen to? He's not he boss, but neither is MJ
Things I learned that MJ can do himself? pour milk from the bag into a glass with no spill, word searches, tuck himself in, and get himself a snack. Cheese chunks and crackers and a fruit cup. (I know the syrup...)


Things that hubbie can do? Find a costume for a play, cook pork chops from scratch, and make them taste good, cook chicken thighs from scratch, no not the ones scratching in the barnyard, but he did defrost and bake chicken thighs. Of course this all points to the fact that I'm not NEEDED.
They are all growing up. They are all learning to do for themselves, and they wont need me to do it all. Oh this is scary stuff, I might really really have to get a JOB!? ACK!... why no I haven't handed out any resumes yet, but I did print them again. Small steps, we all need small steps.

NO I'm not a Drama Queen! I'm allowed to whine. I'm sure I just lost more readers.

First Day of Spring 2009 also known as The abandoned chair progress report

So you see it right? That little dark bump? That's the chair, yep, I know it is. It has to be. TJ was out there on Saturday doing some work for Hubbie, "walk over this way, now walk back this way" and he bumped into the chair. Hubbie told him "leave the chair, that's mom's work" you know cause well I've got nothing else to do? So this is what's going on. The chair and spring are getting to know each other. The chair is coming out of hiding and slowly uncovering itself. It's almost like that for my kids, they leave for school in snowpants, winter jackets and mitts and hats and so on and come home with less on. This picture above was yesterday the 19th, we(Hubbie) took another picture today. Hubbie didn't do it as "I" would do it. So bare with me my staff is less then perfect at doing things the way I would! I'm reduced to letting others do for me....



and then he took this, and yes you can "see" from this angle that it's melting but it wasn't what I was looking for, I'm less them pleased with the "screen" shot!! :) get it screen shot. HA!!! OK bare with me, I'm not on painkillers, I'm bored, and I'm reduced to letting others do for me.



You must though note that it's SUNNY the swingset is slowly showing off it's slide, and that sun looks warmer. So this is what it looks here in my part of Canada on the first day of Spring!!!

Oh Happy Day

I'm sitting here with my sippy cup, typing away, now I'm not using the sippy cup because I can't sit up, I'm using it because it's here it's in the room and the in laws(shhh typing quietly) aren't! they are in the kitchen doing my dishes. They are in the dinning room chatting up politics with the Hubbie. I'm sitting around typing my heart out. I'm on my laptop in my bed, I'm comfy, I'm cozy and I'm not doing house work. THIS is the part of recovery I like. I'm lazy,I'm not sure if you've noticed that about me yet. I'll go out a few times say "I'm sorry I can't help, I feel so useless," or " I should be helping more" and off I get sent to sit! lay down, relax... and "we'll take care of everything" ahem my first real mommy vacation.

More happy Day? I have no bandages on. I went into the hospital today,(3hours in the waiting room but hey I had good company and really there's great entertainment to be had people watching) they took off my Hubbie-did-it dressing and said: Great, it looks good. They did poke again, and they did try to get it to gush, but nope nothing. All is good. Now my job is to chill. The funny part of the drs story, the resident looked like the resident or intern from NCIS, you know the guy... skinny guy. It didn't dawn on me until we were home, and I mentioned it to Hubbie and he says "yeahhhhhh that's who he looked like" HA!

More happy Day I'm feeling good, I'm feeling healthy, the feeling of impending doom is gone, may I NEVER have to have hernia surgery again. AMEN!!!!


ohhhhhh and guess what? it got to 10C here weather wise today and the chair has been sighted. I'm going to get you all a picture for tomorrow. I took one for today and we can compare more after tomorrow's melt. The SUN Rocks!!

Drama Llama and Random Tuesday

This morning I went to the hospital again. Seems here you have to stay in a hospital for 6-48hours after having a baby but abdominal hernia surgery is 4hours tops! so I went back today because my incision decided to leak yesterday. Many many visions of evil things happening to me, I called my dr last night he called me back and said come to the ER and we'll look at it. He did make me feel better just saying that much. Many more hours of not daring to stand up or sit down vs laying on my back and I'm home and safe. The incision seems fine and I got a prescription for an antibiotic. EWWWW many warning labels and I finally took one. Why is that the stuff that's suposed to make you better usually is so darn dangerous if you read the labels and hand outs?

Now on to more random stuff,
My kids are still making me laugh,no more ouch though
Happy St. Patrick's Day,
Got any Green on today? today I'm wearing blue, the pants I bought for presurgery with room to move?uh so not fitting, must be that extra fluid. my face is thinner though. HA!

OH I get to shower tonight, I did a 1/2 shower today for my own sanity, so most of me is clean but tonight I get to take a whole shower. YAY ME! I must watch too much kid tv, YAY Me comes out of my mouth way too often. Friday night I watched Disney shows with the babysitter while she put my kids to bed, and then watched me. oh it gets worse, I don't have straws in the house, so I was drinking my water out of an old sippycup the boys used to use lastnight. SAD Sad SAD!


Hubbie just left a bit ago to do some errands that I would have done if I was driving, and he lost his brakes! he came back and took my van instead, mine is about 11yrs newer.

oops put milk in my tea a bit ago... there goes those antibiotics. I"ve already screwed up.

The chair is still MIA, TJ was out there Saturday and maybe those holes will help? Melting is happening, I can now almost see all of my table on my deck. Whatever will I talk about when these things are all clear of snow?

MJ is home with me now and he's setting up all his animals on he sofa, it's fun to watch him talk with them. He pretends so much more than the other kids did. I see a lot of differences. It's hard not to compare your kids to each other we all do it. I try not to do it outloud. Maybe they'll read this later in life?

Things you notice while sitting/laying, doing nothing

things I noticed today...
Bowling is 2hours long,when you aren't at the alleys 2hours seems to take forever.
If you refresh your Face book every 2minutes no one else is renewing their status that much.
If your kids are told mommy has a owey they don't believe you because they can't see it. If you show them your HUGE bandage they will go "oHHHHHHHHHHHHHH".
Grandparents get more excitement out of a good game of Memory then parent because it's still a game for Grandma... where did I put that guy with the Pizza (watermelon) "Anthony.." says MJ, " ohyeah him" says Grandma. "That darn card, someone moved it..."
Hugging is hard work when you have an owey. I miss my mommy already, she did my laundry, and dusted my house.
Hubbie can cook, maybe some of you all have some that have proven this idea before, and maybe they can even make it from "scratch", but I have to give mine detailed directions including times and temperature. I've even had to tell him "where the... is" repeatedly. I did wonder if we had lived in this same house for the last 6yrs together. I even have video footage of what happens when he lines meatballs up to cook, VERY VERY straight and even and uniform lines of meatballs. Each and every meatball 39 to be exact was given a equal chance to cook for an equal amount of time, this also included percise flipping and moving from the middle to the outer edge of the pan.. I kid you not!
The garbage bag will empty itself more regularly if you aren't the only person filling it, and that "oh there's lots of space left and why throw out a half full bag" turns into "it was getting on my nerves(he used more colourful terms) trying to put more stuff in there with the cover still on, so I emptied it" hmmm?
Chocolate eggs can be part of the grocery budget. I also found them... shhhhhh, he was busy wrestling the duvet into the wash.
You can buy 300.00 worth of food and not just end up with 300.00 in meat if you make a list first.
I can be looked after by hubbie after my parents leave, but it's only been 8.5 hours so I may have to post tomorrow just so we all know I'm here.
I'm curious if he ,really will, as thinks he can accomplishing washing the whole bed worth of sheets, and comforters/duvet before bed time. It is now 743pm.

Post Surgery Post

I've made it through my "day surgery" it was "way quick" I was to be therefor 8am,was on the list for 10:10am, got in about 1030am and was home in my house at 230pm. "here's your hat and there's the door" kind of surgery. Somethings that went well, I managed to not starve to death from supper to surgery time. You know cause I LOVE to eat. There were nurses eating around me too and I also managed not to bite their arms off, or run over and swipe their toast, butter, cheese or Timmies. The surgery apparently went well according to the dr. I'm allowed to go back to bowling on or about the 2wks mark. I can't bowl but I can mark score! I'm being waited on by Hubbie, but oh it's hard not to stay "your not doing it right"
The Sure fire way to get your mommy to visit is to go in for surgery. Mom and Dad are here helping out. YAY!
I didn't puke, even though twice I wanted to! I think my medications are not good on empty stomach, thus the label that said "take with food" oops!
My Abs never felt so tight, I suspect part of that is that I'm afraid to just let them "be",ouch! Not quite the kind of "work out" though that I'm looking for. It feels like I"ve done 300situps!(you know cause that's a real comparison in my non-situp-doing brain)
OK now the negatives. I HURT! I think this is worse pain then my last hernia, my last baby and my hernia before that. I honestly don't remember them being this painful? Maybe I'm turning into a wuss? Maybe it's because this time they've added parts (mesh screening) instead of just taking parts out and sewing?
I've only had a touch of bleeding on the dressing. I'm going to miss showering for another 5days.
In other news, MJ is sick, and now AJ's teacher just called to say he's not feeling well. We can all heal together. Back to sleeping as soon as hubbie returns from rescuing AJ from school.

Time to Play Well With Others This Week : Random Tuesday

Why yes I swiped that idea from The Un Mom, yes and that pretty purple badge there too. Yep it's Tuesday.

The Tuesday before my surgery.
The Tuesday I'm cleaning the house and making beds like a mad woman, cause i'm a lazy housekeeper most of the time. I've got my mom coming, ACK! she and Dad be here for the boys when they get home from school tomorrow. I had about 8 dreams about how that goes wrong.
The hospital called "we're calling to confirm your surgery for tomorrow morning" my reply. "YAY! I'm so excited" its not working. I'm still nervous.

The MJ is still not himself today, in his words "my voice is small" but I've got everything crossed that I wont catch it. I can't cough after tomorrow.

I baked today, got to have those lunch snacks done. I made ginger sparkles, I can't quite remember if I posted this recipe before,
3/4 shortening, I only had 1/2 cup so used 1/4 cup margerine,
1 cup sugary ( usually leave out 1/8thcup)
1 egg,
1/4 cup molasses,

2 cups flour,
1TBSP ginger,
1tsp cinnamon,
2tsp baking soda,

I throw it all in the mixer until it's all mixed and then make them into balls, you roll the balls in sugar and then your done. bake at 350F now I bake them for 12minutes, but it said 15 on the card from my Grandfather's cousin. I got the recipe as a shower "entery". Every Recipe goes in a draw for a door price. BTW where does one keep 250recipes? in a box... :)

The snow is melting, it's not melting quick but it's melting Abandon Chair is still MIA, stay tuned for spring...

I'm slacking

I've not thought of anything to write about in a bit. My head is totally full of surgery thoughts. The house is getting clean though. My mom is coming to help out with the boys. They have school Wednesday, we have no people here I would ask to help me out, so they offered to come up. We do now have teen sitters for evenings out, that took some getting used to. Some might use the word clingy to describe my parenting style. I just like knowing exactly where my kids are at all times, and who they are with. Maybe I'm a helicopter parent? too much?

So Wednesday at 8am is when I have to be at the hospital I should be home about 2-3 pm-ish? and then it's just sleep off the drugs,take more strong drugs and heal for 6-8 weeks. That's the part that worries me is the healing. This is my 3rd time repairing this hernia. I know it's day surgery, I know that it's routine but ACK!!! it's still surgery!
So that's where I'm at, slacking on the blogging, but the house is cleaner. Oh and joy of joys, MJ has a fever of 102.7, I gave him some kid drugs. The fever went down.

The boys are at "DS camp" this week which really means I'm not holding their Nintendo DS ransom while they are on March Break. I may have to instill order by Thursday though, the house needs work,they will help oh yes they will. I'll call it a game, right? they wont know it's work if I tell them it's a game. The Laundry relay Race : You must collect all the clothes in your room, and Dump them in front of the machine, your tag partner must do the same after you, and then the 3rd person must sort the piles from dark to light. Yeah that could work. Let me write that down. oh wait I just did.

Lastnight I had a Dream. In this Dream I won a trip to Hawaii, I have friend living there now make that 2 friends. We went and stayed at her place, and she left her house to us so that we could stay there uninterrupted. Her house has a bowling Alley in it but the balls were Basketballs. The girls Balls had Pink strips and the boys balls had Silver. Now it could be a coincidence since we just watched High School Musical 3 on Sunday night but the basketball bowling balls started bouncing all over the lanes, and the boys (and one really did look like a girl) were trying to catch the balls. I was all worried how we were going to fit all this stuff on the plane and get it back into canada. apparently Rubber is banned at the boarder in my dreamland. I deflated them all, packed them in the suitcases and try to convince my boys to change their grass skirts back into snowsuits. 2/3 managed to geton the plane I left one behind?and we landed in Arizona?

I think I need a job, maybe I'll get to it eventually. I think my many years out of work may be a downfall. I've only got 1 more year of having a child home with me in the day time, having more isn't a solution. Hubbie did tell me he had a dream lastnight and we had a little girl MJ's age. Where would I put another child? this house is a good size but where? it's like that snow out there, but kids don't melt until they go off to College, or move out? and again they might come back with more people or "stuff" our garage can't hack more stuff. It can't help Hubbie's stuff. Before they melt like the snow they eat you out of house and home. Today they all inhaled 12 pancakes? and and 4slices of toast? And yes they ate all their suppers lastnight. This is scary. No melting going on here anytime soon. Yes must get money, and income to feed them. I'll never know though unless I try. Anyone want a resume? printing them out, easy, handing them out? not so much.

OK on with your Tuesday's now I'm one of the cool kids. I hope this worked

Marching On

It's here it's March YAY! And so we go and move along. The kids here are on March Break and enjoying it so far. It was quiet here for about 2hours this afternoon and when I went to investigate, all 3 kids were playing Nintendo 64. They were totally sucked into Mario Brothers, they took turns, they shared ideas on how to succeed. I had to keep myself from looking shocked as I loaded and unloaded the laundry. Maybe they are growing up? Nope it was short lived, at supper time they were arguing about who was looking at who, who made a face and who and who growled at who. I growled (like a bear) at all of them. They started giggling.
The Deck progress, on Saturday I could see the Hemi Orange BBQ again but today it's gone again, I've got to go right up to the french doors press my nose up and tip toe to see the white on top of the BBQ. 1 Step forward 2 steps back. It wont be winter forever right? Right??
Now Question, what do you all do with your kids for March Break? Tomorrow there is skating at the city areas, TJ has been invited with a friend to go and skate, then move on to bowling. YAY! more free string coupons used. I'll have to give him some $ for spending. I'm sure the pull of the video games in the arcade section will be strong. It's growing up it's being a bit independent. What else will I do with them for the week? Personally I'd love to say pjs for a week but it just doesn't give me images of involved, or active lifestyle. If I send them out to the snow banks that's activity right?
