Random Tuesday Melting

So it's Tuesday and my calandar says it's the 31st of august! in Canada but I feel like it's the 15th of JULY!!! It's susposed to be cooling down not heating up.
I'm melting. The high for yesterday? 33C the High for Today? 33C I couldn't imagine what all those expectant mom's out there are doing in this heat? oh wait they are all probably in A/C or a pool, or Large body of water floating in the cool!! That's where I need to be.

Last night we fed the kids as quick as they could eat and headed off to the River. It was cool and refreshing and just the right temperature. We watched Seagulls invade bags of chips. It must be now ingrained in them what chips are?? or that humans have bags of stuff? one day we left a closed seal bag on a bench? they attacked it!

I'm dreaming of this...

I want this weather today, or maybe just half?

That's it for Random today, it's just too hot to be typing. I hate that I just said it's too hot?

Back to School Tag

I love love love getting mail. This week I got an apron in the Snail Mail from Apron Frenzy. I won it BlogherAtHome Weekend. I love it, it's very cute!

On Tuesday I got an email from Amy over at Keeping up with the Schultz Family. She's got an adorable Daughter Alyce and sometimes? Alyce is the poster. It keeps me and my girly Dreams going back for more. So back to the email.
Amy started A Tag called Back to School. What a great idea. I love it. so i'm joining in. There are Questions, we answer, and then we tag 5blogger. Since I really hate leaving anyone out? my 5 is Whoever! :) come join in. Let's see how far we can get this little Tag around the Blogging world. It's also interesting just how much we can learn about each other. note Amy I think was spoiled. :p She got to drive a car to school.

So here we go 5 questions...

What was your Favorite School Item to buy?

hmmmm Clothes! most specifically new shoes, not sneakers but Oxford type shoes for every day wear.  I loved trying the shoes on, and walking around the store with them on and modelling them for my parents. It was "fun". You also have to remember I'm 1 of 5 children. I can only imagine how much 'fun' my parents were having?

What was your Favorite Subject in School?

RECESS! totally I loved recess because it was the one time we could talk to friends or run away from non-friends. Snacks, and lunch and chatting. The rest? day filler. LOL

Did you ride the bus? Ride in the carpool? or Mom/Dad drive you in?

This is where you get to learn a bit about where I grew up. We Walked to school for elementary. I could get there in 8minute FLAT if  I walked through the field and about 12minutes if I went down the road and around the corner to the school yard. The only rules for Elementary were to stay on one side of the road until you got to the Cross walk lady. She crossed us to the main street.  It had to be a RULE because some kids like to cross at the "store" and spend their pennies on their way to school. If I followed the rules I would have to back track. That store is now gone and it's a flowershop now.
Jr High? I had to follow the same rule to walk to the Elementary school because that is where the Jr High bus picked us "down roaders" up.
When I went to High school I went to an All Girls school. I had a choice. We could continue to get the Bus to the Jr High and then on to the High School I was originally Zoned for and then get on another bus to get to the Girls School. way too much work and too many missed morning sleeping minutes. The School board the added in the City Bus plan. Since I lived on the City Bus route (I lived in the county), I could hop on that bus and our nice City Bus Driver would even add 3blocks to his route  in the mornings and afternoons to get us girls there ontime!  I miss that bus driver.  I think I could count on my two thumbs the number of times I drove myself to school for Grad year with my mommy's Station Wagon.  Really given the options? Bus was where we got to socialize.  Also? 5 kids? For university? I lived home and got a carpool ride from A Professor down the street along with 2 other neighbours.  See? didn't you want to know all that?

Did you have a Sack Lunch or Cafeteria?
More long answer.
Elementary school, I got to walk home 1hour for lunch time. My mom was home during day hours and worked a lot of what you all call Second Shift? We called that Evenings. So she was home. Lunch was usually soup and a sandwich, milk and BACK to school within a half hour so we could play with the bus kids. The bus kids were there all day and were the only ones to stay for lunch.  They had to change this in the late 80s when the Community put in a HUGE regional hospital next to the school, they now bus everyone to school and lunch is shorter.
Jr High, I was bussed so had to bring my own lunches, Sandwiches, fruit cups, puddings, juice bags. I had a 1-2.00 a week to buy milk.
High School was the same but I sometimes bought snacks but there was not really much of a lunch counter. It was a small kitchen and microwave. Brought my own lunches or we could buy lunch downtown, but really? why? if I can shop in the fridge of mommy for "free" :P If I bought lunch it was my money.

What is your favourite memory from school days?

My favourite memory, leaving! High School Graduation, that year was my most favourite year. It was so much fun planning Grad and well that feeling like it was all almost over. I also won with a friend a draw from the top fund raiser sales a chance to ride in a Limo for Prom night. The others in the draw were friends of mine, so we all agreed who ever won would share! YAY!

(Bonus question?) What I didn't like? the idea of University was next I think looking back if I had taken a year off to live as an adult in the working world? I would have had more success in University. I still haven't finished.

Okay if you got that far in my rambling post and want to play along? Go ahead.  Tag you're it!! Grab these 5 questions and share with us your answers.

Also in the words of Amy... cause I can't say it any better...

"*Plus I tag all of my readers!!!
If you do not want to join in no problem.
If you do please let me know I would love to read your response.
Thanks for playing along in my first tag.."

Easter is coming I'm sure of it!

Christmas first I guess. wow you know it's only 4months nad 1 week until Christmas. ACK! I'm going to have to work harder on that undetectable Bank robbery.

Today I went out to lunch with hubbie, and 2/3 boys and a friend from the Island. It was a nice meeting. This friend went to school with the hubbie and I think I may have met him else where I just haven't figure that out yet.

The boys were great! we left one boy at day camp though. He's loving his camp. It's all ooey Gooey Science themed.

how do you stop a 5yrold from sucking his thumb?

While out getting school supplies lastnight I happened to be in the same row as a child that may end up in TJ's class! how cool is that?

I find it very amusing that the most friendly people I've met since moving here 7yrs ago? Seem to be either people from the Island, or Province that owns the island or from other provinces in Canada? Why is that? the locals that are original locals, don't seem so friendly. Is it me? Do I smell?

The weekend was fabulous at the River this year! we went F, S and Sun. The boys loved it.

I'm trying to call home today but no one is there. You would think they were having a life? maybe?

I plugged myself into Google today well Kyooty Center? I'm there. I guess there's no point to not clicking that monetonize now?

Zucchini, my neighbour brought me over 1/2 of one! you should see the size of this thing. I'm going to turn it into chocolate Zucchini loaf. We'll see how that goes. I'm using Amanda's Grandma's Recipe from Coming Home for the Holidays.

EDIT!!!! I used the wrong title It's Company's coming for Christmas. Chocolate Zucchini

Speaking of Amanda's GM, she's commented on Amanda's blog. That's just a touch of famous  to me, I LOVE her Gm's cookbooks. I have a lot of them

Ice Cream! will be the death of my waist line..

Critter Count. No new news. but if you are new here, when I talk Critters and Bear? it's about This!

I noticed that Keely's got more Zucchini then me.  I hear she's also moving her blog but we shouldn't feel a thing? hmmmmm I've heard that before...

now i'm off to make my zucchini into Chocolate. what else can I do with it? it's Zucchini...

Random Tuesday Thoughts, Summer is still here

Happy Tuesday Everyone. It's me again, yes I know you were all kinds of surprised to see a post yesterday, well BAM! here comes another. It's Tuesday, YES! I remembered Garbage DAy, No, no dentist appointments. Get yourself over to Keely's grab a Badge and link up. (whisper) did you hear she's HUGE in the UK!

randomtuesday

Hey so what's up here? Beach we got our butts in gear when the sun came back Sunday and took off or the Provincial Park. The water was a bit cooler, but refreshing and not like Northern Ocean cold, but River cool.

I have 1 boy in Day camp this week. Yep it's like daycare but I don't work, so off to daycamp he goes. We Signed him up in June. I'm hoping he likes it and sees some friends because playing with your brothers? Weeks on end? BORING!

Boy#2 is playing computer games this week with less interruption and Boy#3? heehhe he's cheering on Boy #2 without being accused of having Favourites.  Next week this will all be reversed, but Boy#3 will stay in his position as cheerer.

Having lunch now, must eat food. Can't believe how hungry I was at like 9pm lastnight wandering through the grocery store. That place is scary when  you are hungry. I managed to escape with 3 packages of Strawberries.

You know I'm totally boring today, I'm searching my brain for the Random. I think I told them all to my walking partner.

Twitter still not being friendly. I opened my tweets for a bit yesterday and that got me some followers to connect but it's frustrating. I don't need everyone on Twitter knowing when I pee, just the ones I pick, or pick me and agree!

I'm going to have to resort to pictures at this rate... let me see.. Random picture dump?  nothing... must find camera and cards, maybe something new taken by another family member?

(searching mass piles of stuff...) I wonder if I should clean this house? it's still summer though right, vacationish. Cue the Heat Bugs (cicadas)
We call them heat bugs cause you know it's hot out when you hear that BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzz

Have you ever had a conversation with someone and had to do so much "back story" that you lost the plot?

Critter Count, nothing in the back yard or front lately. Hubbie did tell me one night when I got back from walking "did you see the deer on the road infront of you?"
"uh no... I was looking behind me for the bear!" No sightings. YAY!
Raspberries and black berries are ripe now so I suspect he'll be back.

Farmer MJ is having a great year with his "candy tomatoes" That we did get a picture of.

He's harvested 37 tomatoes since they started to turn read in mid July! I'll definitely encourage this next year. That's almost 1 container I didn't have to buy and when they ripen up slowly, he doesn't eat the whole container in 1 sitting. He really loves tomatoes.

Ok since I'm rambling and totally out of random, I'll send you all over to Keely's link up, hop around the other Linked blogs and have a great Tuesday.

Me? Because I'm Kyoot, or a Kyooty

Well It seems I've managed to find me some more traffic this weekend. Welcome to anyone knew that has tried to find me on Twitter. Twitter is still experiencing what they call a "known bug".  I can get all your emails requesting to follow me? but the page that I go to click "connect" it's empty! you're all hiding out there in Cyberspace. I want to connect really I do. It's not you, it's not me it's Twitter! And they know. Which isn't a help.

Anywhooooooo this weekend. I logged myself onto Twitter (from my desktop because OMG? really I don't own or use a cellphone or BB or any other of those things), to see how some of my followers/readers and bloggers I read were doing in NYC! It seemed like everyone was at the Blogher10 conference. Me?  the Canadian Blogger who is the little fish in the BIG sea? didn't go.  Some reasons?
-$, I have none. my kids seem to have some (asking me to take them to the store, I need to mow more lawns it seems, and tidy my room?)
-Shyness, well this had to be said, I'm perfectly happy to shoot the shit with you all online and connect, talk and so on but me being in a NEW place? ALONE? (yes I know some of you were there!) would take some work. I haven't been on my own ever! I went from living at home for 22yrs to well living in my new home with my Hubbie.
-My kids! I love my kids, and really even when they are trying to destroy the house and my sanity? I like being with them. I'd miss them.

So after logging in to Vicariously attend I found two things.

BlogHer@Home

and This!!! BackpackingDad you have to read it to understand. But this made me feel apart of something without being "there" because There was here. I'm still here.

I hope they don't mind me snagging that pic... from Toni? at Just Stop Screaming.

If you're here reading this, Welcome this is me!

Also that twitter? I won!!! An apron from #BHAH peoples and Apron Frenzy. YAY!!!

ApronFrenzy

YAY!!!!!! now to wait by my mail box... YAY!!!

Random Tuesday Thoughts, Wednesday?

I woke up this morning and thought for sure it was Wednesday, I then saw the garbage in the driveway and the Random Tuesday Blog posts! so it MUST be Tuesday. If you're ever puzzled on a Tuesday, just head over to Keely's and you'll know exactly what day it is, well if it's Tuesday.Yep just clicked it myself, there she is Tuesday!

randomtuesday

So of course I'm back from Vacation and you can tell vacation is over for sure... Laundry, yep! dishes, yep, garbage day, Cat is clingy, yep! We're home.

Critter count this Critter Count comes from the Island. The boys were at the cottage and running after bunnies with carrots because Grandpa-da said "if you catch one you can keep it" Well you never saw 5 boys and 1 girl run so fast holding carrots. Then I hear "well the bunny didn't want the carrots so I ate it" AWESOME!!! we have vegetable eating... Go Bunnies.

BBQ's are great, and you know the food taste even better when your brother is doing all the cooking. He did a wonderful job. Yummy! Chicken Burgers, hotdogs, Sausages, steak and I think I even saw some cheese on Sausages? nothing says getting fat like BBQing Every piece of Meat you can find...  Bunny was smart enough to run away from the BBQ.

Cowboy hats! are an awesome investment. I bought one for AJ for a birthday party that was a Cowboy theme, and he's been wearing it ever since. NO sunburns on his face! it's the perfect size.

Chocolate did not make an appearance in my vacation. I know right? what's a vacation without chocolate but well I made up for it in Thick Molasses cookies with cream cheese frosting, Carmel cream cheese dip and granny smith apples, Burgers, island Pizza, and there may have been a huge tray of nachos... I totally should have asked them to box half of that up. oops! TJ did give me a hand with the nachos that were not covered in Jalapenos. hehe

Tea. I did Miss my daily tea, there was tea, but I had a tendency to raid the molasses cookies instead of the tea pot, or the tea needed a partner? oops! I'm expecting a 3lb gane this week for the altar of truth.

Brothers trapped in a car for 7+hours? Can make a lot of noise and annoy the poop out of each other easily! "MOM! he's making a noise." =" Put on your mp3 and headphones and the noise will go away" "MOM! he's kicking my seat" ="so pretend it's a Rollercoaster cause here comes a HILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL" yes the island roads are a bit roller coasterish at times, complete with missing rails also known as pot holes and missing areas of pavement.

Did I mention the Island pizza? yummy!

Did I mention beaches? oh wait you need pics... hang on...oh only 110 on this card. there were 116 on the new card.
Boys on the shore one of the wonders of the world Salt Lakes.
Big Pond...isn't it!
Atlantic Ocean

And The Largest Fiddle in the World? Or so I'm told. There is another large Fiddle not far from my home here but this one is about 3 times bigger I think.
The Fiddle plays a large part in the Musical Culture of the island, as well as the Bagpipes, Guitars, Drums, and I think one night I heard the Harmonica coming from a neighbours Garage.

And what would a night out walking with the wife be? without a picture of her butt? yes this is my Kyooty  and shrinking Butt! :) Never going to trust that man with the camera...

I'll keep hunting up more pictures for another post. There was another Beach in there but we left the camera in the car, but you saw the River last summer right? Yeah you saw that? August I think last year...

Happy Random Tuesday... oh AJ survived the other Atlantic Ocean beach... like this...

I'm Back!

I've returned from my island. I'm not burned to a crisp, I'm relaxed, and I'm not melted. I may though melt today. Here it's now 24C with a forcast of 26C, ahhhhhh heat!

While on the island we visited 4 beaches, 4 playgrounds and many relatives. The boys had a great time sleeping at the inlaws overnight. We should have headed for the cottage for some alone time but all the sights and sounds were in the City. We did what real grown ups without kids do, we went shopping at the liquor store. No "mom are we done yet" "mom why is that bottle shaped different", mom What does V-o-d-k-a spell, or "Mom why are we hear, can I have some too?" it was great!!! Talked to the staff who were nice and engaging but I'm pretty sure they were surveying the customers for traces of previous liquoring up before of course liquoring up more.

Another Night we went for a walk along the Harbour Board walk and took pictures. I think there may even be a picture of me in there.

The inlaws took us out for supper one evening, it was a great deal too, the kids meals were 4.95 then 99cent desserts. I shared some of my meal with my oldest as he's technically not 10 anymore shhhhhhhhh! If he keeps growing tall I'm going to be caught soon. 11yrold do eat more then 10yrolds. ha!

Hubbie had 3 allergic reactions while on our vacation. Nothing says "excitment" and adventure like watching your hubbie start to scratch his head, his nose, his leg then his arm while driving... ugh! I noticed his reaction before he did this time. Another time someone orded a Sizzling Skillet meal and well he's allergic to mushrooms so the smell of just walking by our table. I sent him to the car for his meds. Another day it seemed to be that someone had mowed their lawn which was flourishing in Mushrooms, yummy! deadly to some whether poisonous or not.

I'm going to have to dig out the photo cards and get some pictures load up for you all.
Google+
