What's in your Fridge?
Speaking of Cold since the Chairs aren't covered in snow yet, I was over at The Headless Family Blog and she was talking Fridges today. This is the New Fridge. It contains mostly Condiments, because my family has an addiction to pancake syrup, maple syrup, chocolate syrup, carmel syrup, tomato sauces BBQ sauces, hot sauces,Salad dressings, and Sandwich spreads. Refridgerate after opening? yep!
Milk (note it's in a bag there on the bottom door shelf, very Canadian) and the Carton of what we call Homo milk up here, or Whole Milk in the USA. We go through about 16 litres of milk every 2wks, not including chocolate milk that shows up when we shop hungry. Milk up here comes in a bag of 3 bags that amount to 4 liters total. I'm paying 6.06/4litres Since the new Fridge showed up last month I've been buying the homo(genized) milk in the 2litre Carton so it fits in that top shelf of the door right there beside the Naughty Cow. Essentials. Also not viewable from this angle are 5lbs of Carrots, celery, and some defrosting ground beef that I turned into meat sauce for tonight's pasta.
There are also a few snack packs that aren't in view because I managed to find them for 1.25 a pack and we're down to 3 I think. One boy will not eat a sandwich to save his life. Really nothing with bread on it. I've been trying to be creative, it's not working. Tea Biscuits, or mini pizzas work though.
As it's close to Grocery day this fridge is not as full as usual. I can't wait to fill it up again on Friday. I am so far liking the Drop in freezer on the bottom. It's much easier to have everything at arms level in the Fridge and the less reached for things in the lower Freezer.
I'm happy with the fridge, but I'm not happy that we had to buy it in a hurry when our previous fridge decided Freezing and cooling food was optional.

I think a lot about fridges. Weird I know. I don't like side by sides because the freezer is so narrow you cannot fit a frozen pizza in there without turning it into a pretzel. We've got the French door fridge with ice/water and a bottom freezer. And it doesn't quite work for me either. Half the top shelf is taken up by the ice/water maker thingy, and there doesn't seem to be enough space for tall things. We usually have a gallon of milk, a bottle of wine, a two liter bottle of water and a smaller size bottled water in there (my husband and I are freaks and only drink sparkling water, but we drink different brands, we are weird). So if I've got a pot of chili it's always a shuffle trying to find top shelf room because the pot doesn't fit on the lower shelf, and then it's two crisper drawers and a full width slim deli meat/cheese drawer along the bottom.
I think I need to invent my own fridge.
