I had to get my camera working first from the trip to the Island and then well I didn't GO anywhere. CRAP I thnk I just heard thunder. If it's not one noise it's another round her. 20minutes ago? it was neighbours setting off fire works? Really? Who needs fireworks in their back yard (surrounded by trees) in August? Provincial (Banky holiday) was last week?
So tonight I'm sitting around having some drinky poos. Yeah It's Friday I had originally planned to get my but out the door and go to a Pschyic Fest. My partner in crime, didn't call back. So much for my girls night out, so here I sit, Rum and pepsi Max in hand playing on the laptop. The breeze is passing over the keys, the spell check is probably having a cow and I'm having some time with Captain Morgan. Nice Guy.
Snacks? What else, Canadian Ketchup Chips.... oops so much for the diet now. I was doing really well this week. I was watching myself like a hawk. I saw the "reunion pics" it's bad, so much for my 2yr plan (2yrs ago)

If you were here for Friday Fill-ins you saw that I was on the look out for a Winter coat!! the Rush was on because SNOWWWWWWWWWWW was in the forcast. YEP snow that 4letter S word that brings traffic to a SLIP SLIDING MESS! yep it's here.
Here's my check list.
Snow pants for kids? 1/3 done. YIKES!
winter Coat/Jacket for me? YES! I have achieved cheapiness. I went ot Marks.com store and foudn the clearance rack. 189.99 Jacket marked to 99.99! OK I can work with this.. find gift cards hubbie gave me for Birthday. 65.00! SCORE! ok dig through purse. FIND 10.00 left from the birthday card mom sent for Tuesday. SCORE! now jacket with tax cost me 37.something. :)YAY! SO winter coat, with faux fur trim. Let it snow! and so today it did.
Now my goal for Monday is so hit the Shops for Cheap and wearable Snowpants for the two oldest boys.
Tonight while vegging with my Diet Rum and coke (I'm back on the diet wagon, the wii and I had a talk it was not good!) I watched my cat do this...

Today was the last day of school for my boys. This was the end of Elementary School for my oldest son. I think I'm more nervous of middle School and what's to come next then he is, but for now? It's Summer.
I just received an email from a friend today. There were more sightings of a Bear or bears? This is about 3miles "through the woods" from my place. Fun times. Who invited the Bears to my summer picnics? I ask you? Why is it that my neighbour hood needs bears? My neighbourhood is a good 20-25yrs old? It's not like these are unused lands.
I'm going to have to be on my toes and outside all summer. This may call for a much longer extension for my Laptop, so I can keep my eyes on the boys. I think the bears should now go off and live in a cave/or zoo. Leave the houses and yards for the people?
I hope I'm not being a downer to everyone's VGNO! I think this may mean it's time for a drink! yes a Drink to the Bear leaving town?

Well truthfully I wont be here tonight, I'm going out for a RNO, a Real Night Out with the Hubbie but you know? I think it's only fair to give those not going out something to read? I totally appreciate when you all leave me something to read. I think it's actually been about 3months since Hubbie and I last went out without the kids and just some alone time (I know there are other people there, but they don't count). No computers, no FB games and just talked. I think I'm most looking forward to the not cooking, for people that will turn their nose up at my food, and the not doing dishes. Yes I know I'll have to do the dishes the kids use for their meal at home but well I wont have ot do MORE dishes? And yes I do have slaves to do dishes some nights but it's not like they do them happily.

Food? Here you'll have to ask the Babysitter if she'll open that bag of chips and give you pop? that's all I've got for tonight. There might be dip in the fridge. Help yourself. I like the talking without the ears? and eyes of the little people trying to figure out what exactly Daddy is saying to Mommy? The boys are getting older, our code has to get tricker. haha.

Hey all, i'm in! yep I'm in for the night. Our first "week" of school is in and done! we survived. Did someone mention sleep? Fridays are for staying up late so Hubbie took the older boys out somewhere. I didn't ask where? I wonder if I should have. I said "is this boys night out?" haha! next I'll find out he's taking them out for wings and beers before I know it! MJ and I are here watching Space Buddies. It's a cute movie but I think my favorite part is the music.
So while the boys are out I guess it's time to turn up the music and dance around the house a bit. I will not be drinking this evening, too many Cals for me! even with the diet cola. Oh but for supper tonight I did make some pork! on the BBQ I had bought some marinated chops from the Grocerystore last week and when I look at the nutrional info, I found out just why they are so tasty! wow~! 19g of fat? pass! I made a special trip to the Grocerystore today with MJ and picked up some plain lean Pork boneless porkchops, better! 5g of fat "per", ha! much better. I came home I got out my Chipolte Chili powder, Garlic salt and montreal steak spice, and my mallet! Excellent!! and I MJ liked mine better then the others, so he ate them! I love it when they eat the food. It was good too! yummy so doing that again sometime soon. Totally worth the gas I spent going into town.
So Did you see what Ann thought up week? what a great idea! As the postal Service is unreliable up here I'll bow out since it seems to take more then a week for anything to reach my mail box. I'm still waiting 3wks now for an anniversary card from my MIL on the Island. I could have picked it up there last weekend if I had told them we were going to be on the island but as with most plans here when it comes to travelling with the boys we need to plan but not let them know until the last minute so as not to disappoint both the Grandparents and the kids!
I know it's GNO and going all Mom, I've been doing this Mom thing for 10yrs now it's hard to remember where Kyooty is some days. The Heart (like that one Ann, just for you) of the matter is that I'm here and I'm Mom! Hubbie is heading out tomorrow night for a Spice Night I've decided to stay home. No puking over the deck from pure concentrated hot pepper juice, for me. I'll find something to do once I have the boys all tucked into bed. Maybe I'll come back tomorrow and keep you all entertained again?
I'm home here with 2 of 3 boys so and they are either sleeping or playing on their own computer so it's I've got some quiet time to participate in VGNO. I'd like to say a Belated Happy Birthday to Ann over at AnnagainandAgain, Sorry I missed the party last week.

and a side salad. I'm going to stick to the easy stuff, nachos and salsa? Salads around here fall under, "do we have any..." and "yeah throw it in" Lately the boys are liking bell peppers. This is great but there is a downside. Did I mention we have skunks? yeah well I think the boys just might be competing with the skunks. I'm sorry I'm talking about the boys again, sometimes that happens around here, I guess they are my little fan club. They call my name often enough 'MOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! he's blah blah blah' and 'MOMMMMMMMMMMMM where's the .....' oh wait you mean you hear that at your house too?
So back to the adult conversations I hear go on at these VGNO, in the last month we've found a new station to listen to here. It's all "classics" but the classics they are talking about fall in the 60, 70, and 80's, yeah that's all they play! So I'll be sitting here or out on the deck directing the boy traffic and petting zoo, when all of a sudden I find myself pulled into some kind of time warp. It's the weirdest thing and I'll even find my brain going back to some memory of being at my parent's home growing up, or going on a date with Hubbie. Tonight at supper I had a flash of being 5yrs or 6yrsold and being a bit of a stubborn child. I was in my room getting ready for school and uh these were the years where my mom would put the clothes that "she" wanted me to wear out. I hated her choices, I'm not sure that I hated them because they were not nice or just because they were "her" choices you know? So I dawdled, and dawdled and I hear (full name) being called from the kitchen, so finally I put on the dreaded clothes, walk out, and I'm hooking the hook on my buttons of my overalls and I look to the right, there on the kitchen counter are flames shooting out of the toaster. The song that was on the Radio? was the song that I heard tonight at supper. This!
you know without youtube.com, I'd never know the right words to these songs. It says 1979 so that'a bout right for me being 6 or 7 ish.
Ok so back to the story,she used to tell us the toast wasn't burned it was "well done" when it was in fact burned. I was a "smartypants" then too, so I walk into the kitchen and say "uh I think the toast is well done now" well you should have seen my mother jump! She got the baking soda pulled the plug on the toaster put out the flames, and the fire that had started to climb up the cupboard doors. Dad of course took the wood down and sanded and re varnished all the "fire" off the cupboards eventually. I wonder how much longer I'll remember this?

I can remember the first day one of my school friends came to my school in grade 1, and say "Hi (second name)" :) She had heard my brother 1yr younger say my name and he had always called me by Just my second name. We did go to "head start" together but this was almost 1.5yrs later. Today I harvested her virtual farm. See with the Aid of FB I can easily go floating back to my childhood days. You know maybe I should drink more? Not everything is something I want to remember.

I never in my life thought that the movie "Back to the Future (2and3 too)" would be lessons in life. Time Travel is a hard concept to understand, and for a 7.5yrold it's even harder but the lesson is there. If you change the way you do something the consequences in the future will be changed forever. I think this movie choice couldn't have come at a better time. I do think that they could do without some of the drinking, boob job and gambling references but hey it's a movie. I'm sure there's a lesson in make believe in there too? maybe that's stretching it?
So tonight's question from my little corner of the world. What would you do if you could time travel? What would you change or would you change anything at all?
Me? so far I'd do everything the same, I figure it all happens for a reason so I'll keep the past and look forward to what come next. And unlike last week I'm not touching the Spiked Watermelon. Tonight's drink is... Diet Soda,because the future will not be kind to this butt if I keep drinking real drinks for this VGNO!

I'm trying to figure out what to do next Friday with Boys. It's tempting to throw money at the problem but it would be more like throwing plastic, so I'll have to think careful. They seem to be out relatively early this year. Other years they've gone right up until the 25-26ish. Tonight though I'll enjoy my drinks. 10lbs of watermelon, 3 cups of Vodka
Cut A hole in the top of the Watermelon besure to make a plug, Poor as much of the Vodka as you can into the hole, plug it up..... "stop drinking all teh Vodka... now I have to remeasure... now how many cups... wait you drank a cup already or you put a cup already into the watermelon... someone hold this and someone else hold that blogger over there...." (points to swaying reader)
OK now I'll go visit while we wait the 4hours for this to set. I really should have started this at 2pm, I'd be nicely tanked by 3, and the watermelon would be ready by 6pm!
So now for some food cause I'm seriously starving, I skipped the supper that was offered here by the cook (me), so I'll have to make some BBQ chicken legs, nothing says Summer like BBQ chicken legs and if I remember Grease, didn't some of those guys from the "Blue Moon" Scene have chicken legs?
These were super easy to make, I just baked the legs in a corning ware dish in the oven, then put them on the BBQ for the last 10minutes or so with Diana Chicken and Rib sauce. The red label one is excellent! I also use if for my BBQ chicken pizza. I usually just throw my dough incredients in the breadmaker, water liquids on the bottom, then dry on top and yeast the very top. After the BBEP I dress those pizzas up with this sauce, and grilled chicken slathered in this sauce, mozzerella, red and green peppers, black olives, red onions, and some times hot pepper flakes and hot peppers. Bake at 425 or 450 depending on how hungry, and hte cheese gets to where you like it. You know these posts are harder when your hungry. Now I'm going to make this with a pita bread crust for supper. (waiting for the watermelon.....chug)

Food? Anyone hungry? Let me think SWEET, how about this. It's called Breton Brittle and it's from Company's Coming Cook books. The Christmas one "Home for the Holidays" I'm addicted to this Recipe book all year round. The recipe are simple, and usually I've got everything in the house. So take 28 Breton (or similar) crackers, and line them up 7X4 in a 11X8 pan that's been lined with foil. The crackers over lap so that the whole pan is covered but the and very few spaces. In a Pot on the stove melt 1 cup packed brown sugar, (I said it was sweet) and 1 cup Butter, I've used hard margarine, it works. So you've got that stuff melted in the pot until it comes to a boil. Once it boils, like that rolling kind of sugary boil? then you pour it over the crackers in the pan. Next step, bake this at 400F in the oven for 5minutes. Take the pan out of ht eoven and sprinkle on... 1 2/3 cup of semi sweet chocolate chips (I've used milk chocolate too...or mixed them) and some finally chopped pecans or walnuts. Put the pan in the fridge and let it set (stop trying ot eat it out of the pan, it's HOT!) when it's set, and cold, take it out and crack it! makes 8 cups of brittle. hmmmm chocolate, sugar, taffyish. no wonder I'm still fat... You know what else goes good with sweet? SALTY... when I was a teen and uh could eat more and gain slower shall we say, I used to buy Munchies Chips and an Aero Bar and eat them together in the same bite. I could go for that right now actually, but I wont. I'll stick to the virtual world. Also I heard on the radio today, that Ben and Jerry's are making a new flavour,based on the Bare Naked ladies. "If I had a Millions Flavours" you know Maybe I can find that video since i've left you a bit stranded in youtube link tab hell.
OK just went to the Ben and Jerry's Canada Sight and got a free download of BNL! cool! Thanks to VGNO, how awesome is that?
Oh and another sweet thing? my Hubbie, he brought me home suppper, I didn't have to cook. YAY! now that's Sweet! BTW if this just looks like a mesh of whatever just tell me and I'll try better next week. It's a Long weekend here, that's "SWEET!" (all the kids are saying it)

Now Bare(not no stripping) with me, I may need me a drink to do this right? So I'll keep it simple, Rum and Diet Coke, since it's evening and Hubbie did the shopping for supplies, it's Caffeine Free Diet Coke with Rum measurements may vary as the evening goes on.
I also baked... okay really the baking is for the people that have volunteer to help us replace our roof. I made Brownies for a crowd, it came out of a cookbook I got as a wedding shower gift and the cover is gone but the recipes are awesome! It was a fund raiser kind of cookbook, people submit and they make a book and sell it. I'm so glad my aunt bought it! I don't care if it was part of her gift closet. :) (read turn out every single time!) Brownies for a Crowd: the page is very messy! so you know I use it a lot 1 1/2 cup flour 1tspsalt 2cups sugar 8TBSP cocoa 4 Eggs 1Cup oil or 2 squares of butter (it's a Canadian thing margarine and butter come in squares vs US sticks, 1/2 cup size) 2TSP vanilla 1/4 cup water (and if you like it) 1/2 cup walnuts.
Grease and flour 11X15 pan, mix dray ingredients together add liquid;Mix well. Bake 350F for 30minutes. see the pics even dated! I also iced them...you can scrape that butter cream icing off if your watching your portions of stuffs, and then the brownies wont count right? Last time I made these I used Peanut Butter Icing, you can't mess these up unless you like use too much oil I guess? Sometimes the easiest recipes work the best you know?
I also baked some ginger snaps, and that recipe is already on the blog here..(I'll have to link that up when I find it again, it's super easy too) Music, it's quiet here, clicking away at my computer while I wait for my Family to arrive. My SIL will of course join me in a drinky-poo or few and there will be pizza eventually, she's my girls night out I guess, but I have t wait for her to get here and put her kids to bed.
Now question for this first time VGNO-er is there a them for discussion or do we just sit at our computers/laptops/internet able phones and get plastered and eat? or is everything suspose to be virtual? cause I'm almost toast here and I've only had 2 Rum and Coke and I'm not sure if that guest bed will ever get made. If I'm doing this wrong can you all just let me know?I can take being told I'm wrong, or just sit and point and laugh that works too. Thanks! for putting up with me :)
