Soooooo there's an "island" floating down the "river". We have bought a pass to a localish beach, we swim there and sit on the beach and snack there. There is a causeway going across well on the other side? aparently a piece of land broke away and it's floating down the river. This here is the problem, if it 5meters X15meters, gets through the boat ways, it could run into this....

There is a DQ commercial on our radio about the tin roof blizzard? the guy apparently gets so excited his voice goes high? It's rediculous, it just makes the guy sound like a dweeb! stupid commercial.
Lately we've been dreaming of tent trailers, wow those things have almost everything. It will be a long time before we're able to get one though, so we wait it out.
The older boys are in daycamps this week. They seem to like it and are not bored home with mom. MOM is sOOOOO Boring, she expects them to entertain themselves? I was talking to Mrs lastnight and we talked about all the things we did as kids. Summer? slept a bit later, got up fed yourself, got dressed, got on your bikes and were gone! your mom said "come home for lunch" you were gone after that, you might have had to do a few dishes, but gone again, then it was "come home for supper" and more dishes, and off you went and the last thing you heard was come home when the lights come on the poles". Next day you did it again. There was no "playdates" you went down the road on your bike, you stopped and talked ot people, you either played with them or move on. You went exploring in the woods and saw stuff. now? way different.
I painted my nails this last week and my toe nails? MJ then asked me to do his? I didn't cause it's summer and you cna't hide painted toes on a boy at the beach, it's bad enough that his blond hair gets those "she" comments. "oh isn't she cute" "what's her name?" "oh your a cute little girl (wearing all the hotwheels paraphernalia I can find), how old are you?" and then he gets his snappiness face on and says "I'm a boy" and you can almost hear that "stupid" said after it. he doesn't but it's there.
So Friday is the last day of Camp and Saturday, I'm going to the island, just me and the 3 boys. I've never done this trip alone iwth the 3 of them, or 2 of them and part of me is excited, because once I do it once it's done, but the other part of me is all "what am I thinking". 3 boys, rest stops, gas stations, and the trapped in the tincan feeling. wooooohoooooo fun!
If I'm not close to a computer, I may set the Hubbie into blog the Random Tuesday's. I can only imagine what he'd come up with.
You know a raise would be nice.
MJ just came over with a yogart tube waving it at me 'glowstick!' oh it will be a long ride I'm sure of it.

Woah, a solo road trip with the kids? That would scare me but going with my husband for backup is still iffy since the kids are crazy.
I do remember having to fill the time playing outside or reading a book. We don't live in the best area so I don't know what my kids are going to do when they get to that age. And you with your wildlife...
I totally have the same memories of being a kid. playing until dark all over the neighborhood.
good luck with the trip
and i need a raise too.
Have a great time, it will be fun!
I remember those free summer days too. All my mom knew is that I was somewhere in the neighborhood, and that I'd come home for meals. Good times. Have fun on your road trip!
I'm always scared of solo trips, but when it's all over, proudness consumes me.
have fun.
Julian loves having his toenails painted. :-) He particularly likes this old dark blue polish I have.
I remember summers like that too, and to be honest I'd love to give that option to my kids but I don't know...the world has changed a bit. Depends on where you live I guess.
Yes, those summers sound like mine too! Even though I spent them on the other side of the Atlantic!
Good luck on your road trip. I survived a month-long haul to the UK alone with my three boys!! I'm sure you'll be fine!
Update on the floating island, it's been removed as it was a 'hazard' to boats not the damn itself?
the trip is on my mind a lot today, and I'm still trying hard to focus on the "I can't wait ot get there" part.
The kids might get to "run around" while at the cottage, we'll see.
My summers were the same way. Now, my kids can't even play out in the yard alone....SallyMay and Bubba! Daycamp sounds fun for the kids and for you! I don't think you're boring. Good Luck on the tripping it alone w/ the kids. You can do it!
Ohhhh! Thanks for reminding me...I have to run and drop off a 'Child Health Report' at the pediatrician's office before they close tonight so I can pick it up Friday and go over and drop it off at the Day Camp place before they close on Friday...since it's the last day to do so since I signed PN up for Day Camp for next week...GAH! I can't believe I forgot! So thanks for the reminder... :)
Bet you turn out to be Super Mom on your solo trip... ;)
I remember those carefree days of Summer when I was a kid - like Keely said, the world has definitely changed, so it's sad we can't let our kids have that carefree playing like we did...depending, of course, on where you live. Certainly not where I live!
I better go drop off that paperwork or I will have a majorly disappointed PN to deal with! :)
Happy RTT! :)
DQ commercials are always, always sooooooo delicious. No matter how stupid...
Your childhood summers were my childhood summers. We didn't need "stuff" because we just thought up stuff to do outdoors. Those really were the good old days!
Have fun at the island with the kids!
I couldn't stand the thought of being without my computer. Just mentioning it gives me the shakes.
I think you should def unleash the Hubs on RTT! I bet it would be, um, interesting to see what he comes up with!
Good luck with your solo trip w/ the 3 boys...I'm sure you'll have some interesting stuff to tell us about!
I remember summers like that too. There were so many things outdoors to amuse yourself with, plus the neighborhood crew.
Junior points to my toes and asks, "Paint MY toes?" I'm on the fence...
